Question about 1988 Dodge Ram 50
I recently bought this 88 dodge ram 50. has 2.0. The problem is when i drive it or when its in neutral, and i give it more than 3/4 of throttle, it will sputter and blow out black smoke. When im driving it and give it more that 3/4 throttle, it will stumble and blow out black smoke. On up hills I cant really go faster than 25-30. I have replaced the, cap-n-rotor, fuel filter, spark plug wires and spark plugs... Anybody have an idea whats wrong with it?

did you have code cleared and also try fuel injector cleaner, as a clogged or dirty injector can show as a misfire,

Well, I would replace the air filter, make sure the air hose from the air filter to the intake is not kinked or blocked and check for vacuum leaks. If these are all fine, I would check the fuel pressure as it is possible the pump is weak and not supplying enough fuel.

Seems as though you've got it covered...Try adding "SeaFoam" ($9) from Advance Auto Parts and add it to your gas...drive for at least 100mi. Good Luck
