When a batterey no longer holds a charge, it is time for a new battery. What is the date on yours? If it is older then 48 months ... start looking.

sounds like starter solenoid is malfunctioning replace starter or solenoid or just bad wire connections if car has strap type terminals replace with lead connectors for better connection

Starter relay clicking, but car wont start

Locate your starter and with the vehicle in park have an assistant hold the key in the crank position while with a test light you check for power at the posts on the starter solenoid. One post shoul have power from the battery, the other from the ignition switch and the other should supply power to the starter motor. Make sure your battery is in good shape and fully charged. If all you get is a click from the solenoid then it's likely that you need a starter. If no power fom battery check battery and positive cable/connection for integrity and tightness. The small post is power from the ignition switch if no power her with the key on the crank position check fuses, park/neutral safety switch and it's related wiring.

Changed battery and car will not start and turn over

You might have a bad connection. Check your ignition fuse first. It may have blown. Make sure the battery terminals are on good. You should see a spark or hear the current when you take the terminal and hit the post. Listen and look to see if the battery is holding a charge. If so, you need to check the wires that go from the battery to your starter. Make sure they are getting current off the battery. You can test then with a voltage meter. Make sure the battery post and terminal ends are cleaned. Your battery, if new, should be given off over 12V or around it. Patricia, If it is not the fuse, check the wires. I have a wire short somewhere that causes my battery to not hold charge. I think its my Constant battery wire to my cd player, how can I fix this?

If your talking about the memory wire on the cd player that shouldn't kill the battery, and if you mean the main power wire to cd player, make sure its wired to power supply that is only on when ignition is on, if not check to assure your ignition switch is not faulty and needing replaced.

Battery draining when rear defrost is turned on what casing this

You do not say what brand and model vehicle you have.

The rear window demisters drain a lot of power and are usually programmed to switch off automatically after about 15 or 20 minutes of use. They should also cut out fully when the vehicle's ignition is turned off and of course when you manually switch them off.

1. When you are driving and running a host of electrical units simultaneously in winter there is maximum power drainage and any shortfall in power from the alternator has to be drawn from the battery. This will be a problem if you have a weak battery that is not holding it's charge well or if the battery is not fully charged once it has been nearly or fully drained. It will also be a problem if the alternator is not producing it's optimum power while the vehicle is running.

Batteries do not respond well to being drained frequently and when they are they should always be fully charged again each time with a battery charger at the earliest opportunity. (Running them down and then expecting the vehicle's alternator to do all the battery recharging is not a sound practice).

2. It is possible the rear demister is not shutting down automatically after a period of operation as it is likely to be programmed to do in your vehicle. This is easily checked. If it is not shutting down, and the battery is needed to supplement the vehicles power supply when driving, then the battery can be run down in time.

3. If the rear demister is left active but not shutting down when your ignition is turned off your battery will quickly drain.
You should check that power to the rear demister is off once the ignition is switched off (and when you switch the demister off manually). This is unlikely to be a problem but in the unlikely event that you find it is still operating then you can pull the fuse dedicated to the rear demister.

The battery is dead , and the key will not come out of the ignition switch . More details ? Well the ignition switch on the colunm does not appear to be ready to release the the key from it's cold metalic...

You need to get the battery charged enough to have the key's to release from the ignition switch. Take care that you do not damage the ignition switch over a simple boost to the battery. There is a micro switch on the gear shifter that signals the ignition to release the keys, but with no power to the gear shifter switch, the key's will not come out. Good luck and hope this helps, boost the battery or charge it enough to power the electrical system to the blazer and your should be able to get your key's out of the ignition.
