Hi, disconnect the 3 harness attached and the distributor cap and/or spark plug wires. Remove 3- 12mm bolts. Pull disconnect the 3 harness attached and the distributor cap and/or spark plug wires. Remove 3- 12mm bolts. Pull on the distributor. When re-installing reiverse the process. Make sure that the distributor shaft is line up with the on the distributor. When re-installing reiverse the process. Make sure that the distributor shaft is line up with the notches on the cam. It only fits on way. If in one position dont fit. turn the shat 180 degree.

The ignition module is located inside the distributor and costs almost the same as a complete rebuilt distributor. It's usually best to replace the entire distributor on your Accord, to resolve a bad ignition module.

I have a 1992 honda civic and we didnt have spark in any cylinders so we replaced the ignition coil and it started but not running good they put a code reader on and got an error code 9 they said to...


hondas of that era are notorius for bad distributors. they tend to fill with engine oil under distributor cap. i would check the distributor cap and rotor before replacment.

My 1991 Honda Accord is having trouble starting. The repair shop says I need a distributor and tune-up that will cost $800 and take a week to get parts. Does this sound reasonable? Jim B in Kenosha, WI


If ur a ripoff ranger yes-Iv never seen someone replace a dist in a tuneup-a dist cap n new plug wires is all u need-inspec these 2 parts specially inside the cap--also look over ur fuel system-coolant-etc

Ignition coil, transistor, rotor, distributor cap or other component in ignition circuit like ignition switch- may crank but no spark. In that order. Good luck.
