Question about 1998 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Turbo hi there i have had problems with the turbo of my isuzu wizard. I had it replaced with a new one in nov last year. I wasn't happy with the noise the replacement was making and took it back to the garage twice, (once it went on to the turbo specialists). Last week the turbo went again apparently due to oil dysfunctioin. The damage show sever wear and contact damage to different parts of the turbo. The turbo specialists and the garage wont take responsiblity - the car had done 12000km on the new turbo and had scheduled oil change after 10,000. What steps can i take now?

Most shops will only warranty parts and labor for 12 months or 12k miles, whichever comes first. Very rarely will you get a warranty longer than that unless the manufacturer gives it, then it will only be for the part. And I am curious, why would you wait 10k miles to change your oil?

I have a 91 Holden rodeo with the isuzu 2.8 TD lump in it. which is drawing oil up through the compressor and subsequently through the turbo giving me plenty of interestingly coloured clouds following me...

The turbo is in need of an overhaul/replacement. The problem is that people do not let turbo charged engines idle for at least 5 minutes before turning them off. The engine oil is coolant for a turbo much like antifreeze is to an engine. Exhaust temperatures reach up to 1700 degrees F and if the turbo is not cooled down, it will cook the seal that keeps oil from entering the engine. Have a shop that is experienced with replacing turbos do the job and it will cost quite a bit. Always cool down your trubo and it will last lots longer.

Gearbox doesn't shift smoothly

Hi! When was the last time the fluid was changed? also I've found that the trans sump gets very filthy and sometimes the gauze filter inside gets clogged not allowing full flow of trans fluid. perhaps removal and a good clean? Are you sure the whistleing is coming from the transmission? Could it be Turbo whine? or possibly Air Con belt?
Hope this helps!
Happy New year!
