The battery light comes on because the battery is not charging or the battry won't take a charge. abad battery (Dead cell) or the brushes worn out 80,000 miles will wear out these altenators. try wrapping it with a hammer while it's running to see if the brushes will make and it'll charge a minute. If the altenator fuse is blown it'll have the charge light on running and off with the key on and the engine not running.

The battery light coming on may indicate that the alternator is not charging,it should come on when the ignition is switched on & go off when the engine is running, you need to check if the battery is being charged or not......hope this helps.....cheers
