Why when the ignition is off on my 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee do the headlights inadvertently come on & stay on for 10 to 30 seconds?

I used to leave my headlight switch in "Auto" mode - and found that after awhile, my headlights would do the same thing. I think there may have been some corrosion in the switch. I stopped using the "Auto" mode and this resolved the problem

I own a 2007 Chevrolet Equinoxand have been having

The Equinox should still be under warranty so take it back to the dealer, but if it's out of warranty. It's most likely the wiper switch on the stock handle which also controls the headlight hi and low beam. I believe you can buy this part at Auto Zone or Part Source, but if it's a warranty thing, do the dealer. Good luck, Auto Zone and Parts Source will have the step by step instructions for you to replace the part.

The headlights do not activate automatically, in the auto mode, at night or with minimal daylight. However the running lights will activate in the auto mode. A new dash light switch was installed without...

The light sensor to control the automatic headlamps is located on the dashboard. This sensor is suppose to activate running and headlamps. I would suspect the problem is a relay to operate the headlamps if the car uses a seperate relay in the automatic mode. I'm assuming the headlamps work in manual on/off. FYI... The auto mode does not control the fog lamps.

Auto headlights

Yes, the headlights normally will come on during the da. There is a photo sensor that controls this feature. You may refer to your owner's manual before assuming that there is any major issues. It is possible that this feature has been disabled at some point in the past. It is also possible that these "daytime driving lights" will only come on while the vehicle is in gear. In either case, I would definitely refer to your owner's manual to find out the details of how this system works, as many of today's auto manufacturers are starting to use a variety of different methods for enabling/disabling these types of features. Hope this helps and have a great day!
