Powersteering pump is.growling.

This can be caused from low fluid level. Fill the p/s reservoir and check for leaks, if you still have growling noise the pump has been ran dry and will need replaced and the leak repaired.

That means your powersteering is out of fluid. This could possibly be a leak in the powersteering pump or it could be as simple as add more fluid.

Severe powersteering leak. can I drive with bad leak or no fluid?

if its a slow leak yes. but if its squeeling I wouldn't. My 98 nissan could hold the fluid for about two weeks. could be as simple as tightnening a hose.

I have to replenish the powersteering fluid in my 96 Corolla every other week, just about. Where should I check for a leak? in the pump or reservoir or where?

If it is leaking that fast, there should be a nice puddle on the ground where it is most often parked. That would be a clue. Take it to a muffler or oil change place, both have lifts, and pay them a few bucks to tell you where the leak is if you cannot find it. It is so much easier to find a leak with a lift and a light.

Pumps leak, racks leak, hoses leak, and sometimes there is a small fluid cooler which springs a leak.
Cooler, hose, pump, rack is the expense order.

The powersteering was working fine when i parked but when i started the car and began to back up i had no powersteering. what would cause this?

Check the level of power steering fluid in the resovoir.
If low refill and your steering should come back.
Check for leaks by looking under the car and have someone turn wheel from one extreme to the other. Alot of times the fluid only leaks under high pressure when the wheel is turned

Troubles shooting p0551 core

Powersteering fluid is full and no problems while turning the front wheels you may just need a new powersteering pressure sensor. If your low on fluid fill and check for any leaks, and if your steering is hard to turn you may need the pump.

Powersteering fluid comes out just as fast as i put it in, so what can problem be?.

To have a leak like that, I would say either a broken hose or a power steering pump failure. What can you see and how mechanically inclined are you? Let ma know and I will try to walk you through this.

My 1999 vw Bug keeps leaking out power steering fluid .

Well sounds like your pressure side of the powersteering has blown the hose.. you need to order a new pressure hose from the parts store and get it replaced and refill the powersteering tank.. Thanks jerry ...
