Question about Chevrolet Camaro

Replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat, and have no leaks. Its a 1996 Camaro 3800 v6 and still overheats while running a/c.

Just wondering does that have a clutch fan on it? if so does the fan spin after the car is hot.

I have a 99 camaro V6. About 3 weeks ago it started running hot. I replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator and added more coolant. The tempature passes 260 and the fan comes on after like 5...


i have the same problem. it may be a good idea to try and flush all the hoses individually. are you seeing any yellow mustard like gunk on your radiator cap? i took off my water pump and everything seems to be ok with it. here's a few things to check up on. the water pump, the radiator cap may need to be replaced because it may be losing pressure. could be a crack in the radiator, or a soft/week hose. you could take it to a shop and have them do a pressure test to help narrow down the problem.

2000 3.4 v6. i replaced head and manifold gaskets water pump,thermostat.about a month after it would overheat,i would fill it with water ,it would be fine ,now months later it overheats all the time,fans...


It sounds like you have a clogged radiator. You need to flush it out . If it won't unclog you will need to replace it. Sometimes if you ever use stop leak in your radiator, you need to flush that out if you ever replace anti freeze or add more stop leak. Remove radiator cap and start car and let it warm up to operating temp. Fill radiator where you can see the fluid with cap off. While looking at antifreeze gently give the engine a little gas and see if the antifreeze circulates by going down. If it doen't then it is either water pump, thermostat or a plugged up radiator. These engines will overheat for many reasons. >>make sure there is no leaks at all, as air will cause the system to overheat while losing coolant at the same time. Depending if the radiator is original or after market, there may be TWO radiator caps (one on the engine and one on the radiator)- the one on the engine usually is faulty because of direct engine heat to the seal.>> On the thermostat housing, there is an O-ring at the end of the feeder pipe, usually leaks especially if the thermostat was replaced and not the O-ring. >>Check also the hydraulic driven radiator fan>>Check power steering fluid for proper levels first. unplug the switch atop the powersteering pump, start engine, rev to 2000 rpm (fan should increase in speed-you should hear it) if not it may be faulty.>> Check system for proper flow- With engine cold, remove the engine side radiator cap and rev the engine(1000rpm) slightly, notice if the coolant is flowing. If not, possible faulty pump, or clogged radiator. Hopefully this helps

My 1996 Ford F250 3/4 Ton pickup overheats. I've replaced the thermostat, and the radiator fan is working.


I would look at the water pump. Check for leaks at the pump. The water pump may have a "weep hole" and if there is any coolant leaking out of the hole the pump is bad. Hope this helped.

Temperature control


The radiator cap is at the radiator where you refill the radiator with coolant. Unless it is leaking and you hear a hiss. It may not have anything wrong.Neither will the water pump.If the water pump is bad. It has a small hole that will make it start leaking .Check the engine for leaks at the intake or the water pump.You will know where it is leaking. When the thermostat was removed and hopefully replaced , did you bleed the system ? The system has to be bled to remove air pockets. Or the engine will overheat again. Also check that the radiator fan or fans is turning on . If not you may need to replace the temperature control sensor.(TPS)
