Why wont my 1992 toyota pickup shift into overdrive

Fluid may be low or dirty. On automatics, check the level with engine on while in park. Could also be a shift solenoid, governor, speed sensor (on electronic transmissions). Just to cover all the bases, make sure the shifter is in the proper gear (some cars have 2 "D" positions) and make sure that, if there's an "Eco" button, that it's on.

My 1992 Toyota Camry won't shift into gear after I changed out the clutch, how do you synchronize the gear shift with the transmission?

First, are you certain that you installed the clutch and throw-out bearing correctly? This may take some trial and error - if you replaced the clutch, you know your way around the transmission. The shifter should have two rods/levers going to two attaching points on the transmission. Disconnect these linkage rods from the transmission. Manually move the connecting points and test by "bumping" the starter until you're sure the transmission is in Neutral. Verify that the stick shift in in the Neutral position, and re-connect the linkage rods. If all goes well, you should now be able to move the shifter through the gears. Good luck

1985 toyota motor home. 4 cyl. 22re engine. goes slowly into reverse when transmission is cold, but when it warms up, it wont go into reverse. If I give it more gas, it will sometimes catch briefly, but...

Change the fluid and filter. If i remember correctly reverse and third gear share the same band and clutch pack. Some transmissions you could tighten the band on it.

I have a 89 toyota pickup 4 speed. When I'm stopped at a stop light, and let out on the clutch it seems like it has lost pressure. When I'm shifting down the road it shifts fine. I checked the fluid and it...

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.

MY truck wont shift correctly when I am going up hills. It is a 2 wheel drive with the 4 cylinder. Some say it is the transmission fluid. Does this truck have a filter for transmission

If your clutch isn't shifting properly when going up hills it seems like the clutch cables are loose or the clutch dog is out of alignment, might want to take it into a mechanic for a visual. But It definitely does not sound like the transmission fluid.

Where is the shift linage located on an 1985 toyota 4x4 pickup truck? I still cant shift into gear from thje last support you gave me

Without seeing the problem myself, it sounds like you have a clutch problem. It could be the linkage but sounds like the clutch. A manual transmission's linkage is located on the top. It can be reached from the inside of the vehicle through the floorboard. The linkage is attached to the lower end of the gear shift and enters the top side of the transmission. A vehicle repair manual may be helpful, Haynes and Chilton are good ones. Good luck

I have a 1992 toyota pickup that is automatic transmission, air conditioner. It will not shift into gear.

you check if there is enough oil in the gear box,if so you must level it ,also check around the gearbox if there is leakage ,if the level of oil i s low this the torque converter will not transfer the the torque to the gear box,and that why it will not shift into gear, that the main cause...........
