Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

2 Answers

2001 Eclipse GT. I got flooded and had 2inches of water in the driver and passenger areas. Everything is dried out and working now except the speakers. The water did not get up to the console area and all the other electics work. The radio shows that it is working (all the displays work) but I can get nothing from any of the speakers. I replaced the radio fuze but it was not broken. Is there an inline fuze somewhere other than the fuze box? What could this be?

Hi! If the radio is working then you will have to leave it for a while to give the car some time to dry up. Leave it for atleast 3 days not using the radio till the wires and connectors dry up. If its wet, it wont work. Hope this helps and have a good one!

It could be the heater core. Usually it leaks on the passenger side, but it could be running down to the driver side. With you stating it has overheating issues, that's why I think the heater core. If this is the case, usually the whole dash will have to come out.

This is very common to occur when these vehicles have water leaks.
There is an amplifier located underneath the passenger seat which has gotten wet and shorted out.

The amplifier will need to be replaced to restore audio.

Water leaking into 2005 Camry 6 cyl under carpet drivers side.

I think that I can help you. It sounds like your drain-tube is plugged up. Get in the passenger side, and pull the carpet back from under the glove box. Look for a black rubber pipe that goes from a black box, and pokes thru the firewall, on the passenger side. Remove the hose from the box, and have a container ready to catch water. If water comes out of the black box, your drain hose is plugged up. Clean out the clog, and you will be golden.

If it's like mine, you should be able to find it sitting just to the left of the driver side headlight. Somewhere between the headlight and radiator. you may have to remove your factory air intake box to see it. I use a after market air intake so I can get to it with ease. Not hard to spot, should have a single wire attached to it. Hope this helps.
