Question about 2005 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Toyota Camry XLE. Recently it has started making a rumbling sound under the drivers side. Not too loud while driving but louder when braking. I had a nail in the front driver's tire, had it fixed and told my husband about the rumbling. He rotated that tire to the back and it's still rumbling, possibly even louder. I took it to have the brakes checked and the repairman said it's not the brakes. Sounds like something that needs lubrication but what? I don't want to wait for it to break to fix it but, I don't want to get hosed either by taking it to a repairman when I don't know what it is. Any ideas?

The mechanic should be able to figure this out, 2 possibilities>> Worn wheel bearing, damaged CV joints, loose suspension!!

Real simple clueless

Save yourself all the worry & guessing -while throwing
parts at it & have a repair shop resolve.

The only reason there are 300 or more people here a day,
is because they know nothing & do nothing-- to resolve these

2001 Toyota Camry. Loud rumble on start/warm-up, slightly decreasing after some drive time. Engine seems strained (with louder rumble and vibration) mostly in lower gears, accelerating and/or uphill. No...

Have you checked your oil and fluid levels in the engine and transmisson.
if it's a manual could the clutch be worn out causing the high rpm and thrust bearing noise in the clutch.

1992 Camry v6 XLE: Started engine this morning,

Is it coming from the driver side, passenger side, front or rear of the engine? It could be a cam or crank seal if it is coming from the passenger side behind the plastic timing cover.

Is this rumbling wheel bearings or transmission?

If the sound is all the time, no matter what you are doing then it is the Transmission going bad. CV Joints, Wheel bearing will only make the noise when in rotation.. Also remember that this is a front wheel drive car, so it will throw you off thinking it is the wheel bearings or CV joints due to the front wheel drive
