Question about 2006 Kia Optima

Open Question

I have a KIA Optima 2006, V6, 2.7L, that just this past weekend I got a check engine light. The codes stated misfiring on cylinder 1 and 2 and random misfiring. Replaced all plugs and wires but the issue was not resolved. Now the codes (P0305 and P0274) are now just on cylinder 5. Codes Reads as follows: P0305 ? Cylinder 5 misfire detected probable cause - Rich or lean Air/Fuel mixture - Ignition system fault - Fuel injector fault - Engine mechanical fault P0274 ? Cylinder 5 injector circuit high probably cause - Open or short circuit condition - Poor electrical connection - Faulty fuel injector Can you please advice on what steps I can do on my own to figure the cause or do I need to replace the fuel injector? Thank you for all advice and have a great day. Jason

SOURCE: how do i adjust the rich/lean fuel mixture cracked intake

You can't do it with out a tech 2 scanner, so your going to have to go back to the Mechanic to have it reprogrammed. As long as it's running rich, your going to have bad fuel economy and will not pass the emission test when you have to have it done. Good luck and glad to know you got your car running almost 100%

Random multiple misfire P0300, P0302, P0304 on 2006 Kia Rio

A competent mechanic will check all probable causes associated with these DTC codes.
Code P0300: Random-Multiple misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Vacuum leaks, damaged hoses, or improper routing
2. Fuel contamination
3. Ignition system - Ignition module, coil, spark plugs and wires
4. Fuel system
Code P0302: Cylinder 2 misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Control unit software in need of updating
2. Faulty PCM or ECM
3. Faulty fuel injector
4. Ignition system
5. Fuel system
Code 0304: Cylinder 4 misfire detected. Probable causes:
1. Control unit software in need of updating
2. Faulty PCM or ECM
3. Faulty fuel injector
4. Ignition system
5. Fuel system

Be sure the invoice enumerates all of these probable causes as having been checked. Also, some of the replacement parts installed earlier may be faulty.

2006 Kia Optima LX V-6 Engine light flashing engine running rough

A flashing check engine light means FIX IT NOW! It probably has a dead cylinder (most likely an igniton issue). Most likely, the PCM has figured out which cylinder it is aand turned off the fuel injector to it.You can get a cheap, basic code scanner(mine was 50 bucks at Harbor Freight Tools, made by Cen-Tech).It can read the code and has a book to tell you what the code means. If you find the cylinder with the misfire and correct the problem, you have to clear the code to restore fuel to that cylinder(this cheap tool does that, too).

Engine Check Light - 2006 KIA Optima

Hi

Before you turn out the light you should have a code read carried out just to make sure nothing sinister is going on with the management system.

If the car is running ok then the code will probably either pertian to the O2 sensor, the EVAP system, or a drop in catalytic efficiency, but this isn't set in stone, just the most popular scenarios.

Very best regards

Geordie
