Can i install a used instrument panel in a 2001 volvo v70?

You can replace it with a junkyard one but there are issues. Best to get it repaired:-

To install/replace the D.I.M.(Drivers Instrument Module) easily. Disconnect the battery. Remove the plastic surrounding the D.I.M. by pulling it. You will then see 4 T25 screws. Remove them and carefully lift the DIM forward and out and avoid scratching the display. Disconnect the display. If the display has failed and is giving you total random readouts, it needs replaced/repaired. Getting it repaired at the dealer will be MEGA bucks.....but there is a cheap solution. There are many companies around that will repair if for you for a fraction of the cost without the aggro of mileage correction issues. (see eBay)Alternatively, reflow the Motorola chip on the circuit board yourself if you know how to. When repaired and refitted, re-connect the battery with the ignition switch in position 2.

850 volvo wagon stereo code

How to Reset the Radio
  • When the radio displays CODE, you may enter the code using the preset radio station buttons
  • For instance, my number is 1615, so when I get the CODE on the radio's display, I press the radio preset button 1, then the radio preset button 6, then the radio preset button 1, then the radio preset button 5.
  • If your radio says OFF, leave the ignition on in the first position for 2 1/2 to 3 hours in order for it to display CODE. In certain models you can clear the OFF state by pulling the fuse for the radio (#7 in my car). That's a bit simpler than leaving the ignition in the first position for a couple of hours - particularly if you don't have a garage.

The four-digit code is unique to your radio; your neighbor's code will not work on your radio. So what to do if you've misplaced, or never received, the white card, like most people?

Dealers have your radio code in a database, and can look it up. Many will give you the code over the phone if you've lost your card. You can call any Volvo dealer: they all have the same computer system to look up your Volvo radio code.

Sometimes the code is written on the radio itself. But you have to pull the radio out (not hard) to see it.

Other dealers will have you drive to their lot and speak to them in person. Because the dealer will need to read off the radio's serial number to cross-reference it with the unique code, bring your radio, and your Volvo. Some reportedly charge US$10-$100 for this. Hmmmmm. I suppose dealers can choose to charge for this, and we can choose to not go back, right?

Finally visit this site & keep your VIN no. ready

Battery died, got jump, now the radio is off and needs a code for 2001 Volvo S40, that I don't have.

Hi!!
When the battery is disconnected or drained and you restore power, the radio will say 'CODE' on the display. This is your cue to find the easily misplaced credit-card lookalikes that have your radio's code written on it. New Volvo owners got two, I believe.

If you don't have the code, call the dealer to ask what they need from you. Don't pay the dealer any money for the code! If they want money, hang up and call another.

Good Luck!! A 4 THUMBS UP rating for this solution will be highly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

Any garage that you trust can do an alinment and a tire balance, as long as its a reputable garage you'll get the same Quality as the dealership.

Hi need an unlock code for a 1997 volvo 960...thanks in advance for all your help

If this is for the radio, you'll need to call your local Volvo dealer, give them the VIN number and they'll be able to look up the code for you.

You may have to call more than one dealer as some will not give you the code without you bringing the car in.

Hope this helps!

My volvo radio is not working and says ''code''

Factory Volvo radios have electronic locks in them to prevent theft. Any time that power is disconnected from the radio a code must be re-entered to make the radio operational again. This code is available from any Volvo dealer's service department but most of them want you to appear in person with the car (to prove ownership) before they will give the code. The instructions for entering the code are in the owners manual or can be easily described by the dealer.

Transmission valve

All I know is that volvo does not replace shift solenoids anymore. I dont even think you can find that part. I used to work for volvo and the manufacturer would have us just replace the transmission. You can get a factory instruction manual from volvo. Its called a first edition manual. They are not cheap. It might be a good idea to bring to the dealer, just find get a second opinion.

Volvo s80 dashboard fault

This is a known problem although Volvo will not admit it. The dash needs to come out (10 min job) and sent away for a simple repair. Total cost is about £150 but you will need to get the SRS warning that will be showing in the LED message display cancelled by a Volvo dealer after the dash has come back. Don't try a scrapyard dashboard the ECUs have IP addresses. I used a company in Kent to do the repair. Get onto Google there may be a repairer more local.
