SOURCE: White smoke from exhaust

Could also be a warped cylinder head, especially if you've been driving it that way for a while.
If you are noticing a higher than normal temperature indication, this is also indicative of a blown head gasket, warped cylinder head, or both. If your coolant levels seem to be dropping faster than normal it can mean that you're leaking it into the engine. Or, it can be that you have a coolant leak which caused you to overheat, and then blew the head gasket. It's something of a "chicken or the egg" situation.
The best way to determine if this is the case is to change your oil again and inspect it. If it looks like "milkshake," you have coolant mixing with the oil.

SOURCE: 2003 Saab 9-5 Check Engine Light

Take the car to Autozone, they will read the codes via OBD II for free.  Other parts stores may have the same policy ... call first.   My VW dealer charges $40 to pull the codes!!   I bought a low-end OBD II reader for $50, as the wife and I  both have VWs.

White smoke is usually antifreeze, the most frequent cause of this is head gasket blown or cracked head ... big bucks.  Hopefully this is not you.  Unless the car had a dramatic overheating incident, for most makes of cars, this should not happen until you have over 100K miles, probably closer to 200K.
White smoke could also be break fluid sucked in from power brake booster.  If it's brake fluid, it will smell very bad.
On cold days, when the car first starts, white smoke can just be normal condensation in the tailpipe ... if it happens after the car is warmed up ... it's something else.
Check your coolant overflow tank level ... if it's very low or empty ... put water in (don't bother with antifreeze yet in case you are burning it up in the engine).
Good luck, ..ajm

SOURCE: large amount of white smoke on first start of the day

Have you had the injector recall check carried out? There is a problem with these injectors and this produces the symptoms you are describing. I suggest that you contact Isuzu direct for help. They have been very helpful in the case of my trooper

SOURCE: smoke from exhaust when starting

You are Burning Oil. Check the Oil Level, Should be low. Have a Mechanic check your Compression and the Rings in that Motor!

White smoke out of exhaust

Regarding 2001 audi a6 quattro 2.7t....i was driving to work the car was fine then white smoke starting coming from under the hood and tail pipe. i stopped veilce and alot of oil was dripping from front of car. I towed it home and i looked under the hood and there was oil from valve cover gasket. i let the car sit for a few days, had it running again for a good hour and no white smoke was coming out. I removed the valve cover and gaskets are all bad. i want to know can the valve cover gasket leak cause the white smoke to come from exhaust pipe?

Ford focus tdci white smoke problems

What happening is you have a bad head gasket or its starting to go bad. As long a little oil is getting in to cylinders causing that smoke once it warms up that gasket is expanding thus the smoke stops. I would keep an eye on oil levels if it gets milky replace gasket asap. Could also be intake gasket but highly doubt it this sounds like a worn head gasket.

When i start the engine i have like a white smoke behind me is just huge.i drive a toyota land cruiser 2006 manual gearbox.i don t know what is the problem?is happen in every morning and 4 max 10 sec all...

smoke indicates a weak engine, if it is only at start or beginning few minutes of driving then hopefully it is rings only which is weakened and needs replacement, as per your note it seems only at start and the vibration is it only at cold start and what about if after running a more then 5 miles even you stop the car and start in few second does it still vibrate or no, please let me know

Cloulds of white smoke is coming out my 2000 9.3 sabb, what could it be?

you need to check your oil sending unit its located on the motor probily in the backof the moter towards the firewall up top center should have 2 or 3 wires comeing to it attached by a plastic wireing connector clip, it looks like a nut about 11/8 inch diam. if its not there it might be on the bottom of the motor next to the oil filter again just look for the wires running to it. youll probily have to change the oil if its down there. ther are relitivaly cheep pick up at any auto parts store or have a mechanic to do it. it about a 15 min job if they dont have to change oil. but if your getting clouds of white smoke [not from the tail pipe] but underneeth the car and possabily leaving a drip trail of oil. thats what it is.. good luck i hope this helps

After washing my 1989 corolla white smoke started

If the smoke is coming from the tailpipe and will not stop you have a cracked head. this can be caused by a hot engine sprayed with cold water. if it was just for a few seconds it smoked and i don't do it any more you are most likely ok. it is rare to bust a head that way but it can happen.

good luck

White smoke, water vapor at initial start-up. drives a few miles, smokes again. could it be a vacuum regulator? 2001 jaguar s-type

Water vapor coming out of the exhaust at initial start-up is normal; that is condensation that collects when the engine is not running. White smoke at start-up depends on a couple of things. Tell me, where do you live? When the weather is very cold, all engines will emit steam (white smoke) when they are first running; this stops after the engine has been running a while and is warm.

In short, if this is only happening at first start of the morning and goes away over time, there is nothing wrong.

If, however, the "white smoke" continues and never stops, you may have a blown head gasket.

White smoke from exhaust

White smoke from exhaust = water into the cylinders, when this happens it usually means head gasket gone or starting to go.
Check the water level, and take the car to the garage for a check up , if it is the head gasket, as I think, you risk to blow the engine at any time.
