You could be right about this ,it could be the key transponder reader ,which is behind the steering lock and it reads the key chip, sorry but their is no way around this problem other than the dealer who has the correct software to diagnose and reset it all ,Now their is another way and to find a similar vehicle in the scrapyard and remove the ECU ,transponder and the chip out of the key ,but scrapyards are not allowed to sell these parts here unless its your cousin of course .So the only alternative is the dealer which shouldnt be that expensive so ask for a price first because even official dealers have some right rogues as receptionists ,Another trick here is use a daughter whos blonde and pretty to book vehicle in ,wearing full war paint and shortest mini skirt this always works unless the receptionist is *** or a female ,trouble is my daughter is in the UK so i borrow the neighbours ,this always works ,please remember that vehicles in europe use encrypted software so even an old hand like myself is squeezed out when certain jobs need doing .
Ive got everything stripped down to the steering wheel lock and cant figure out which tool to get that off. I'm going to dealer tomorrow to ask them if they think that's the issue and if so pick up part. I read if I change the key assembly with new keys & sensor I have to turn the key to the on position until the security light goes off so the computer gets new codes or something, then everything should be OK.
dont bother trying to strip anything out ,this is a dealer only job and they might just be able to re-programme it as you may have left the key next to a mobile phone or another source of electrical field which has wiped the chip in the key .This factory immobilisor is designed to stop vehicle being stolen so its unlikely that you can change a part on your own and get it to work ,whatever you try to change it still has to be programmed by the dealer so just leave it and have vehicle taken by tow truck to the dealer .
