Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Everything seems normal in my nephews 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee as we assembled the AC System until I had just about finished adding the second can of 134a Freon..At that time the high pressure gage started to lncrease at a mucn faster rate generally reaching 350 to 375 psi and once to 400psi. I heard the compresser make sound like it was receiving liquied thus I immediately pulled the jumper from the low side pressure pigtail to disengage the compresser. I checked the inside temperature at the vent very often. It never turned the ;least bit cool as I added the two cans .of freon. I understand this system requires a fixed amount freon, if so, how many onces or ml does it take and why did it not get cold at any time dujring the charging process? Thanks, John

If the high side got up to 375, your electric fan probably did not come on. Fan relays are always an issue. Underneath rt headlamp assembly. Make sure fan works with a jumper as these go too, and will take out the relay

2001 Jeep Laredo has 2 fans at the radiator - are both fans supposed to run all the time?

Hi,
The answer to that is NO!
There are two fan motors on that area. One is for the radiator cooling system and the second is for the condenser( Airconditioning system ).
The radiator fan starts/run when the engine temperature reaches a certain temperature( electric thermo switch on the radiator ), while the A/C fan starts whenever you switch on the a/c.
Hope that clears up everything.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

2001 jeep Cherokee running hot

If you have the 4.0L six cylinder those run hot. 210-220 degrees. If the cooling system is fine, both fans are working and it's not overheating you can try adding a bottle of "Water Wetter" to the coolant. I also changed my radiator cap to an 18psi which seemed to help run slightly cooler. You find it at the autoparts store.

It could be the security system or maybe a crank sensor.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited..heating system doesn't work but ac does

You may have the blend doors problem which means the blend doors are in the closed position only allowing cold air. They need to be fixed. Google "heatertreater" to see full explanation and fix.
