Question about Mitsubishi Montero

1 Answer

Anti lock brake and red brake light are on with the sharp sound inside the car on MONTERO 2001. where is the sound came from. is that from the empty pump or empty modulator or empty booster or just a warning sound because there is no brake what so ever. the brake fluid is full. pushing the brake is like pushing a cement block. bleeding was recomended with special tool hook up to turn off the light. can i just disconnect the battery and reconnect for 10 minute and hope it will go back to normal after the bleeding is done per instruction without using or hooking up a special scanners. i have no dtc codes or dtc for speed sensor or anything for anti lock brakes sys. Im talking about the integral abs of 2001 montero not montero sport.

Using the proper bleeding eqipment should sufice in the mission you have set out to accomplish providing no codes are present and the ABS system is in fine working order.
If the ABS light is lit use a scanner tool to properly shut it off without disturbing any other systems.
Sometimes if someone refills the brake resevoir with brake fluid....they have caused another problem...the brake system is now over full and can cause the brake calipers to lock a wheel up, bleed out the necessary amout it is over filled by and continue on with your road test, should be fixed.

I HAVE NO DTC CODES FOR ABS SYS. THE SCANNER I USE IS JUST A REGULAR SCANNER. DO YOU THINK THESE WILL TURN OFF THE ANTI LOCK AND THE RED BRAKE LIGHT INSIDE THE INSTRUMENT. OR JUST DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY WILL DO.. IF I NEED THE SCANNER TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS DO I NEED ABS SCANNER. OR USE A REGULAR SCANNER OBD 2.

On a conventional non ABS Brake System such a "HARD" brake pedal would be an indication of a failed power brake booster(the large pie shaped dish ) that is mounted to the backside of the master brake cylinder, I think you lost the vacumn hose that supplies vacumn to the power brake booster, start the vehicle and see if the 3/8" diameter approx. black rubber hose has broken or fallen out of the its connector, which will cause a horrible rough to stalling idle when hitting the brake pedal statically in park or neutral, you wont have to drive the car to determine this condition.

    Hope that works!!

What is anti lock

If you are referring to "anti-lock brakes", or "ABS", it means that when you depress the brake pedal hard enough, your computer recognizes the pressure and pulsates the brakes to prevent your wheels from locking up and the traditional skidding you see in movies.

ABS stops you quicker in emergency situations.

2002 mitsubishi anti lock break light

your anti lock unit may be going out,you need to see a mechanic to have this checked. You should not drive this vehicle fast and rely on the brakes in extreme conditions. These units can be rebuilt saving you a good deal of money.Although the brake system needs to be checked fully by a mechanic.

My anti lock brake light is on my 2002 mitsubishi montero limited

Shift into 4H for now, the light should stop flashing and then replace the freewheel clutch solenoid located under the air box at the fenderwell.

Why is the 4wd light flashing?

i had the same issue with the 4x4 light flashing and the anti-lock brake light on while in 2wd. what seemed to fix the problem was to have the sensors for them cleaned periodically. i had a shop do it so im not really sure where they r located.

Anti lock brake light and buzzer on wonld like to know what to check for or look for

abs modules do work overtime on a car. they do brake down from time to time. all four wheels have sensors that regulate control, braking and stability of the car. the sensors could be faulty or the abs module is packing up. don't take it to the agents, they will rip you off. there are people that can overhaul this and you will be on your way. good luck

2001 Alero - anti-lock brake light warning light won't go out - had brakes replaced - is there a re-set button?

no reset button.have the car anti-lock brake system scanned.to check code.because when anti - lock brake light come on.it can be many things.like faulty wheel sensor.faulty relay or the anti - brake unit low on brake fluid or the abs unit faulty.

Srs and anti lock brakes and light engaged now i have no braking

park it, get it towed (unless you know someone that can fix it) and have a shop go over it to find out what happened. Most likely the master cylinder has failed.
