Question about 1994 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Car Squeals when A/C is turned on, but only when A/C is on or sometimes when starting up. I've googled and read a lot about belts and Compressor Making the sound. Where would you be able to tighten the belts? The sound sort of climaxes and then goes down (But it's still there).

A/C compressor or Tension pullies?

indicates a loose drive belt problem
tensioner pulleys only tension the belt and if there is a problem with the ac compressor it will continue to make noise when it is switched on as that will make the belt slip
check the drive belt and if you see small cracks in the ridges of the v sections , it is probably hard and not gripping properly

2004 sorento squeals when start air conditioner

The air conditioning compressor is belt driven by the engine. The compressor has a clutch on it that engages when the AC is turned on. The compressor then puts more load on the drive belt. Likely the drive belt is loose, worn or may have oil on it. Hope this helps.

AC belt squealing. Lost it on the road. Replaced it and tension pulley. Still squeals.

Sounds like the compressor is seizing up or a idler pulley bearing has failed.

Grinding noise coming from alternator or A/C compressor, now engine does not turn off...

Lot of time the A/C compressor bearing brake and lock the belt. After the engine shut down the belt melt and stick to the compressor pulley. remove the belt and start the engine shortly. replace the compressor clutch and bearing or sometimes is better to replace the complete compressor.
Good luck

My 2003 Kia Sorento squeals really loudly and for several seconds when I start it the first time every day, and also squeals when I turn the AC on. Just wondering what the problem is.

Sounds like you have either a loose, worn or streched fan/serpentine belt. The lost likely reason you don't hear it all the time is the fact that there is not as much of a pull on it. When you first start the car your alternator will demand more out of it and the same goes for your air conditioner compressor when you turn it on. I would check the belt to see if it has any cracks or if it is loose. I hope this helps you and good luck.

Hi, I have a 1999 Audi A6 Avant. The steering wheel squeals when I turn left or right. I had the steering pump replaced. It stopped after replacing it and then started again shortly after. Took the car...

the pulley tentioner on the power steering belt, i ve done lots of them, they are self tentioning and over time can cause to much tention on the belt, if this the case when you have the steering at full lock it should squeal the loudest.

!991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?

Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.
