Good to hear, if you plan to keep it invest in a do it yourself repair manuel. check half priced books before going to auto parts store. haynes or chilton they have great trouble shooting sections . some problems are as easy as changing a fuse.nothing better then a car with no payments, even better when it purrs like a cat with a touch of asma

At least change your air filter , which is important , spark plugs check , oil and filter is normal , check your belts , timing belt too need to check too .Do not want that break down and then have to repair it , it will cost more

FAILED EMISSIONS TEST P0401&P0420 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESETED MANY TIMES WHEN CUT OFF ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AFTER 5-6 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED EGR VALVE .STILL WA\ONT PASS INSPECTION. WHATS NEXT?

P0401 indicates that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected. This can be because EGR is faulty . As you have replaced this then the problem must be with the vacuum line . EGR valve vacuum line which can be broken or blocked. The vacumn ine must bbe checked for leaks or any blocks using an vacumn pump connected the line.

P0420 indicates that the down stream oxygen sensor reading is not steady and it is connected with the code P0401.

My 1988 Ford Bronco 5.0 has been stalling / acting like its run out of gas. (Has always run great before) I know it has plenty. Today 7.28.10 It stalled twice, first time it did it had at least 1/4 tank,...

You might have what is called vapor lock. The fuel gets so hot that it boils in the fuel pump or the lines. Do this test spay water on the fuel pump to cool it off . ( this only works for a few minutes before it gets to hot and vapor locks again ) If you can Keep the engine heat Off the lines and the Fuel pump it might help. If you have metal fuel lines near a heat source rap them with something such as rubber fuel line sliced down the middle to keep the heat off them If you are using an aftermarket electric fuel pump relocate it down low near the gas tank ( they work better pushing than pulling ) away from any heat source such as exhaust If your using the stock fuel pump try replacing it with a new one it might be getting weak Replace the fuel filter while your at it.

Accelaration loss of power

I'd have a fuel pressure test done to be sure, it isn't fuel related again. Takes 5 or 10 minutes so cost should be minimal. The other thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust. (catalytic converter) Quite possible on a 10yr.old vehicle.
