Air conditioner reset

2001 dodge ram 1500 with 5.9. I had the freon(?) drained last year so I could replace the heater core. I was going to recharge it bitb I've been told that it has a safety that needs reset. Is this true ? And if so how do I reset it?

Thanks

There is no safety, but the system must be evacuated before you replace the freon. evacuation boils the moisture out of the system and leaves a vacuum, there must be only freon in the system. NO AIR. if you nned more help get back to me and we'll go from there. Please rate my fix as i strive to be the best. Thanks Ray

It doesn't have any safety. Just a pressure switch. It will turn the compressor back on after you get a little freon in it.

Check if your rubber hoses that lead to the heater core have an inline valve. If the do, it sounds like it is not opening to allow circulation. normally they are vacuum operated

1998 dodge ram 1500 keeps blowing air conditioner fuse located inside the cab when a/c is turned on

This could be a few things all related to heater core. If fan is stuck or bearings bad if fluid from cooler is leaking or even clutch is going out on ac compressed it would cause this... hope this helps.

My air conditioner works but does not cool . i have added freon the last two years and fixed the problem ,did the same thing this year but did not help .

When self adding freon after it leaks out you get air trapped in the system. After adding freon a couple of times the air expands not leaving room for the needed freon. To continue adding freon with air tapped will knock the compressor out pretty quickly, there's not enough room for both & the air is keeping the freon from being able to cool properly give the false indication of being low on freon. The freon you are adding has the dye added to assist in finding the leak since freon does not evaporate nor dissipate it its being leaked out. A black light will assist locating the leak. The best thing is to have the unit checked & serviced by a mechanic...he'll charge about $ 150.00 to check for leaks, remove the old freon...his machine will tell him how much air its trapped in the system by how little freon is removed. For the service fee he will replace valves & gaskets, where needed, correcting most leaks. After sucking the system down & recharging the problem should be corrected.

2006 Dodge Ram Ac Issue

Most likely you have a leak. Turn the air conditioner on high and look at the compressor on the engine if it turns for a few seconds and turns off you may be low on freon. If it does not turn at all you may be very low on freon in both cases it needs to be recharged, you should also try to find the leak and repair it to. Also check the condenser in front of the radiator to make sure nothing is blocking it. Good luck with it.

How to replace a heatercore in a 1995 dodge ram 3500

your heater core is inside the big black box under the dash on the passenger side. you'll have to pull the dash out. then remove the black box, usually there are bolts on the firewall in the engine bay that hold it in place.disconnect the ac lines and heater hoses. remove the box and then the screws all the way around it to open it up. replace the heater core and reassemble. you'll have to recharge the freon when you are done to have ac again.

No a/c, no freon....2001 dodge ram 2500 diesel 2 wheel drive

It is most likely the evaporator leaking. You'll need to remove the dash panel assembly and the heater housing to gain access. I have replace many Chrysler evaporators in trucks, minivans, and Jeeps to name a few. I hope this helps.
