Question about 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

2002 chevy tahoe ,vehicle has factory alarm with keyless entry, battery and starter were checked. and are in good working order,this vehicle does not want to crank over .the starter relay just clicks, this vehicle does not have the vats system, just a factory alarm.

If possible try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone is cranking it over. The electrical system test only tests for amperage draw and not dead spots. Do this after checking battery connections if connections do not correct the issue. If it cranks while tapping the starter then starter is having a issue.

    The security light seems to be functioning the way it is suppose to. Is the clicking coming from the relay only or is it the starter solenoid clicking?Is it a fast click or just the relay clicking? The issue is definitely electrical? Let me know whats been checked and we can work with it from that point on.

    just the relay is clicking, the starter was tested at local parts store, it was in good working condition . I had this problem once before ,and i armed and disarmed the alarm and it started right up.I thought it might be the ignition key / vats system ,but this vehicle does not have the vats system.i installed a custome stereo and had problems with the factory amp.I would have to arm and disarm the alarm and then open the door just to get the amp to kick on in order to hear the radio....so thats some history on the vehicle

    Anyway to get a wiring diagram for the aftermarket stereo just to see what factory systems the stereo tied into? It almost as if the system is running through the body control module.Check your connections at the bcm to see if the harness is loose. I intially was thinking that it was a security issue with the key but usually that will cause the security light to flash even when the key is in and just cause a no start condition. Some of the stereos require an aftermarket interface to be installed because some of the body control functions run through the OEM stereo. This almost sounds like what you are experiencing.

    When searching for an interface whether or not the vehicle has onstar function will determine which interface needs to be used.

    i reinstalled the oem factory stereo and disconnected the battery,with the key on to reset the computer, and still nothing...

    It s good you were able to eliminate the after market stereo.So you still just get the starter relay clicking. At this point would start using a a test light to see if power is getting to the starter from the relay.This will take two people the main battery cable should always have power with the key on the small terminal should get power when it is being cranked over. We know already for sure that power is getting to the relay from the clicking. Are there any identical relays you can swap in its place just to check the relay itself? After swapping relays if condition still exists would verify power getting to the starter.The large terminal should beconstantly powered while key is on Have someone in the car while checking for power at the small terminal you may have to continually turn the key over shut it off turn the key on etc.The small terminal is usually brief in power and not constant. Let me know.

    ive already swapped relays and they are good,i used a power probe to check battery at starter and everythings good also,i tried checking the starter wire at the starter when cranking and still no crank.

    Tomorrow at work I am gonna check in the identifix program and see what might come up. Just out of curiosity have tried starting it in neutral? Beginning to wonder if something may be going on with the neutral safety switch. I know some of the S-10 had issues with the 7 way connector to the neutral safety switch and wiggling that harness would allow them to start, Is it a 5.3L will need that for the program to put into identifix.

    Have you tried jumping across the starter to see if it engages while in the vehicle?

Check the battery cables, both positive and negative. Not just on the battery end, but at the starter, and the engine block. The cable could have a bad spot along its length that may or may not be visible. The best troubleshooting step is to replace them.

2008 HHR Remote Starter not working


Is this an issue with all 2008 HHR remotes??? Highly doubtful , probably the vehicles keyless entry system . Taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop an having the keyless entry system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . Do you know what a DTC is ?
The keyless entry system is a vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system is used in conjunction with the body control module (BCM) to remotely activate certain vehicle features. Keyless entry will lock/unlock the doors, or release the rear compartment lid when a corresponding button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. This is accomplished by the transmitter sending a radio frequency to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function via a serial data message to the BCM. A low transmitter or vehicle battery or radio frequency (RF) interference from aftermarket devices, such as 2-way radios, power inverters, computers, etc., may cause a system malfunction. High RF traffic areas may also cause interference that could lead to a malfunction. Keyless entry allows you to operate the following components:
• Door locks
• Liftgate lock
• Remote rear doors (Panel only)
• Vehicle locator/panic alarm
• Illuminated entry lamps
• Remote vehicle start
The keyless entry system has the following components:
• Keyless entry transmitters
• Keyless entry antenna
• 2 Way Advanced Remote Start RCDLR
• BCM

Guessing will not fix this .

My 2004 v6 ford explorer won't start new batery and new starter no luck wont even click ?


Did you check the start relay for voltage? Ohms reading?

If I remember correctly the circuit goes like this:
Key turns ignition switch which puts voltage to the start relay which engages the solenoid.
So if it isn't even clicking and your headlights seem to be working fine then it is either the ignition switch or the start solenoid coil.
On older Fords the start solenoid used to be remote mounted on a fender. I heard newer Ford vehicles had it integrated with the starter like GM does.
A quick visual inspection will tell you which and where you need to look.
You might check if there is a fuse for that as well.

Keyless entry wont work 2002 chevy s10


The only way to program them is with a scan tool so you'll need to visit your local dealer to have it done. Here is how it is done.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to access programming: Vehicle Control System/Computer Integrating System/Module Setup/BCM/Program Key Fobs.
  3. Press the START soft key on the scan tool. Important: The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.
  4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the transmitter is programmed.
  5. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
  6. Remove the scan tool.
  7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

Can you override and start the 2002 chevy blazer without remote?


a factory keyless entry will not have an override but it does not disable starter.if you are have security issues it is problem with passlock system. if it is aftermarket alarm system then there is a button somewhere but varies where installer put it
