Starting at the front of the engine on passenger side is cylinder 1 straight back is 2 then 3 then 4 at very back passenger side. moving over to driver side at front o engine is 5 straight back from there is 6 then 7 then 8 at very back driver side. The firing order, in case you are in need of it, is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. I hope i was of some assistance to you. Good luck

sorry i forgot, you probably want to know where to put wire on coil. starting with passenger side coil in front left corner as your facing your vehicle is the #1 going clockwise from there it is 6,3,5. The driver side coil starting in the front left corner as your acing your vehicle is the number 4going clockwise from there it is 7,2,8. That will probably a little more helpful now.

SOURCE: firing orde ford 6 cyl f-150 truck distributer to spark plugs

you didn't say if you have the straight 6 or v 6.But i'll give the order for both.
The 4.9L straight 6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4----------- distributor rotor turning clockwise, and #1 plug is the first plug.
On the 3.0 and 4.2 V6 engines is 1-4-2-5-3-6-------#1 plug is the first plug on driver side---- facing engine.

More important than the length is the routing of the wires to reduce chances of cross-feeding of the ignition pulse into another wire.
Don't know if any place shows the routing of the plug wires.. You may need to look at another engine like yours to see how the wires are routed and which length wire goes where. Good luck.

Changed plugs on a 1999 f-150 engine now I have a engine miss

check you dont have a broken lead removing them one at a time with engine running will show you which cyl is not firing check plug wasnt cracked when being fitted change lead double check firing order if the engine didnt miss before the plugs were changed then this course of action should fix the miss its easy to cracl spark plugs when fitting if the plug socket does not have rubber insert carbon leads only need to be pulled to hard or bent to far to damage the carbon fibers that run through them check that you dont have two leads crossed this is a common mistake with v8sand is easy to do

Broken spark plug in the head on a 2005 Ford F-150 5.4L

typically when you break a spark plug, it is the ceramic portion that breaks. the bit left in the engine would still be removable. if your worried, just spray a little bit of wd40 on the plug and let it sit for a few minutes. they should come out alright... just take care not to break the new ones on installation

Do you have any engine codes?
Does your fuel pump turn on and do you get sufficient fuel pressure?
Do you get spark? Power to plugs, ignition module, coil packs?

Check all fuses and relays?

First things first: Why keep putting up with Ford F150 2005 , engine spark plug problems, leakage, trucks catching on fire due to faulty electrical systems, etc.... Someone needs to start a class action law suit.....Ford is making all the people that purchased a Ford F150 2005 pay for spark plugs breaking when being replaced at a Ford Dealership, even though it was due to their poor design.....get moving guys
