Question about 1996 Lexus ES 300

1 Answer

The car is a 96' Lexus 400sl, not ES 300. As explained in a previous request, I took your advice, paid the $400.00 and bought the mass air flow sensor, the code still will not clear and now shows a EGR code which will not clear. I'm not going to spend any more money changing parts with poor advice, does anyone associated with this website have answer that will solve these issues.

I am sorry about the expense that you incurred. Since the damage was caused by road debris have you filed a claim with your insurance carrier? Do you have any idea what struck the underside of the car that caused this damage? What are the exact codes that the computer is showing?

The insurance is only liability,so this won't help.Codes are as such:P0100,P0101,P0135,P0141,P0403 & P0161. I still don't understand either why only an downstream oxygen sensor would create all these issues, the car was drive at best 85 miles till I could get it to my mechanic. At the present I have 600.00 in parts and haven't gotten my bill for labor yet.

Check the fuses, when a catastrophic o2 sensor failure occurs there is a fuse that protects them and when the fuse goes out, all kinds of codes are sent.

Mass air flow sensor not working properly

hi no more sin, the camshafts have the variable valve timing, not the
air mass sensor which should be a black box at the end of the air
intake snorkel closest to the engine.
get it scanned by a technician to make sure you get the right
information as to where to start.

I have 95 es 300 it doesn't shift all of them and the computer said output speed sensor and speed sensor

Mine said the same thing. I replaced a speed senor and it did not correct the problem. I had a diagnostic and it mentions the air mass flow sensor which regulates engine and other things.

Engine light

the dtc doesnt make sense. there should be a P0 or C0 in front of it. I'm going to assume that it was P0171 and P0172. mainly because those are related to the MAF relatively. Take it back to the mechanic who did the work. it sounds to me like he did something wrong.
