There will be a (or maybe more) stored error code in your computer's memory that can be read out via a scanner.
Call any of the chain auto parts stores in your area and ask them if they do a scan free; all I know of do that. If they get the code, they might be able to sell you something so it isn't just because they are your good buddies.

1998 BMW 528 recently replaced radiator, water pump & pulley temp gauge sat middle all good THEN 2 months after all this temp gauge goes past middle then dropped back to middle . Next day temp gauge...

It could be the thermostat but you need to check the fluid level and for any leaks (these could even be pin hole) first. If you have one of those infra-red temperature gauges you can check the temperature of the cooling system in the engine bay to double check. Generally the engine temperature should not go much about 90 deg C - this is when the electric cooling fans kick in - are these turning on?

Why is clamate control on 2006 wingroad ultra sensitive?

This can be caused by a bad controls or bad blend door motor, the door motor and controller will need to be tested to see which is causing the problem,

Is the temp going from hot to cold hot to cold as you drive?

Is this a blown headgasket:?

It sounds like you probably have a newly installed window in your engine block. Overheating can do serious damage to an engine. If the headgasket was bad, there could be damage anywhere from a cracked cylinder head all the way to severely overheated and dammaged crankshaft and camshaft bearings. The fact that it suddenly started spraying oil all over everywhere suggests that a bearing has come apart and a piston or connecting rod has broken and you now have a hole in your engine block.

My temp gauge is going to the red , I turn my heater on and it does go down somewhat . Motor doesn't really seam that hot but might be . Thanks

It sounds like the cooling fan is not working, with the motor off look in front of the motor and there is a fan or 2, check the wiring and plugs, some times they corrode and can be cleaned with alloy wheel cleaner then water then spray oil in them otherwise the fuses and the thermo switch need checking.

The sensor for the fans is in the rad at the bottom. T-stat may be bad or the rad may be clogged. Cooling system needs attention.

Over heating, and no AC

Cooling Fan Malfunction. Your radiator fans are most likely not working. That's why the temperature is OK when you're driving full speed and the wind is cooling your radiator. You need to check and/or replace your cooling switch module and radiator fans (most likely it's the cooling module). If you were sitting idle or in stop-n-go traffic for an extended period of time, your car WOULD overheat because the fans aren't kicking in cooling your radiator - then you would see all of the cooling system water spill out of the coolant reservoir, before this would happen your temperature gauge would go to the red and the digital dislpay would flash a thermometer (indicating you're about to overheat in 2 mintues). I hope this helps someone out there - Yes, it happened to me in the middle of nowhere.
