When the rad fan runs and the ignition is off, the only problem that is common on the chrysler system would be the rad fan relay. The relay contacts are welded together inside it and replacement is the only fix. It is located on the left fender beside the battery. There is a slight chance that your wiring to the relay may be faulty causing a short to ground that may allow your relay to remain energized, but that would be a rare instance. Good luck

Had to unplug battery cables so it will not kill my battery My R500 fan will not stop running after car is off please help

Hi Ralph

Disconnecting battery cables could also cause troubles with clock & radio & other devices as they reset & you may have to re enter security code for radio etc.
Better to find the fuse for the fan or a connector point between fan & wiring harness.

Your Fan is probably continuing to run because the engine temperature is still high.
Does it eventually turn off after a length of time?
If not then the temperature sensor may be bad or the actual engine is overheating.
How is the Radiator Water level? Or Coolant? or coolant overflow container?

Cheers

Kia sadonna ran fin all morning but when I shut it off it won't start now, dash lights come on and when I turn the key it ticks, could it be the batterie,

Have your battery tested. If the fans ran all morning, too cool down your van it probably killed the battery. Also keep an eye on your temp gauge, and make sure it's not overheating. The temp sensor for the fans could also be faulty ; causing them to run longer than they should when you turn the van off.

2006 Pt Cruiser fan keeps running and drains my battery

Chysler vehicles are notorious for having recalls. Call your local dealer with your 17 digit vin and see if there are any active recalls on for vehicle. One call possibly fix this problem. If not, you need to check your engine temp sensor, the electric fan relay, and fan module. One of these switches and sensors are telling the fan to come on because the engine is warm and needs to be cooled off. You will find most of these sensors and switches near or close to the front of the motor close to the fan and top radiator hose. You can also retrace the wiring harness from the fan motor back to most of the sensors that control it. Hope this helps.

3.8litre ,electric fan continues to run killing battery.doesn't happen all the time.

It is most likely the fan relay is sticking and allowing the fan to run on, the relay is plugged into the fuse/relay box on the drivers side of the engine compartment.

1991 honda accord lx cooling fan

Some vehicles have sensors that can control the electric fan with the ignition off to keep the heat buildup that naturally occurs right after turning off the engine. This can prevent hard starting that can happen with a hot engine. If it is doing this an abnormal amount, the sensor that is operable with the ignition off may be failing. Before turning off the ignition, check to see if the engine temperature is pushing the 'red zone;' if it is, then the fan operation may be normal but your engine may be running hot.

Radiator fan runs when engine is off

some cars do start up the fan when turned off after they have been driven. as long as it is not starting when the engine is cold there is nothing to worry about. the reason it took 15 mins to shut off is that with the engine not running the water is not being pumped
round the engine thus cooling faster. hope this helps
