Turn the engine on, feel any water flow on either radiator hose, you can feel it, but abiously after it warms up thats when the thermostat opens, does it run rought at all??? lag of power, does it. check your fan clutch/electric fan. did you actually overheated the engine at all? the rason why is cause this engines have the habit of messing the headgaskets and over heat. that if worse gets to worse. let me know

I have a 2000 ford Taurus I have changed the water pump and thermostat and it still runs hot why

Hi Lucas, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Lucas, first thing to check for is make sure the cooling fans are coming on. Second thing to check and very common issue after replacing the water pump, is air trapped in the system. Make sure you get all the air out of the system. Some systems have an air bleed screw to help with this issue. If the fans are coming on and all the air is out of the system, then you'll want to check for coolant flow in the radiator. CAUSION: Let the engine cool before taking the cap off the radiator. After removing the radiator cap start the engine and let it idle, if the coolant does not flow after reaching operating temp, then you may have a restriction somewhere in the system. The other thing to check is make sure you put the thermostat in correctly, some vehicles you can install it backward, make sure the spring end is going toward the engine. If you have coolant flow and the coolant is blowing out of the radiator you may have a blown head gasket or timing issue. Hope this helps and please send people to my auto-repair-website at:

2006 300c water hose came off about a week after changing out radiator now car is running hot again. Runs good for about 20 minutes then it gets hot and sprays a mist of water near the thermostat that's...

The mist of water is the first thing to fix. And while fixing that replace the thermostat. Anytime a radiator or water pump is replaced, the T stat should also be replaced.

2000 mazda 626 over heating

After a radiator refill start and run engine till hot then top up . If it still overheats it may have a compression leak or a cracked head . after the engine is hot ,fit a pressure gage to the radiator run engine under load and if pressure rises quickly it has leak or crack .

2000 chevy corvette changed water pump and therm bubbling through rad cap

there should be no air in the cooling system and the system can be bled by using a pressurising equipment . Ensure that the thermostat is placed in the motor the right way with the body facing the hot water (head or block). Air defeats the purpose of having a pressurised cap and system.

I have replaced the radiator and water pump (which is the correct pump). Put two mini fans on the front of the radiator. Took out the thermostat and it still runs hot.

It will run hotter with no stat, the water goes too fast too get cooled in the rad. Would be better off to try cutting the center out of the old stat and just run the "restrictor" . If it gets hot at hiway speeds,NAPA sells a combustion leak dectector, will let you know if it's a head gasket or not. Just a liquid that changes color if it sees exhaust.

1995 toyota avalon, overheating, just changed s/belt compressor stop working, now it runs hot. is this now a prblm with water pump or first thermostat?

I do not see a good connection between the serpentine belt and the engine overheating suddenly.

Perhaps you have a lot of burnt belt rubber on the water pump pulley?

Is the upper radiator hose hot? If so the stat is opening. If you start the car cold with the radiator cap off you can watch for coolant starting to flow and make sure the stat works...if the flow is low you have either a blocked stat or poor belt grip at the waterpump. Have you flushed the radiator recently? After 15+ years your car could be ready for a cleaning.

Car run hot possible radiator got a hole and/or water pump coing bad.put water in it...water blows back at you.change thermo stat.

it cant be hot when you do it . you have to start the filling prosess when its will get a air pocket that wont go away. air pocket causes steam. you have to fill as the car warms up.

350 in a 86 k-5 blazer runnin hot very hot 5 miles it is boiling

You can tell if your water pump is running backwards by the way the radiator fan is running. If the ran is pulling air from the radiator then the water pump is running the right way, if it's pushing air toward the radiator then your water pump is running the wrong way too. There should be a sticker on the fan shroud or on the hood to the direction the serpentine belt should run. IF the water pump is running the right direction, then it needs to be replaced. Good luck and hope this helps.

Water is not circulating in radiator. Engine is running hot.

sounds like the thermostat. the thermostat lets the water flow from the block to the top of the radiator.
