The best thing is to go to your local Volvo maintenance shop or Volvo experts to find out whats the problem..usually the coomon ones I think is the programs inside its ECU unit..you try this..ask the volvo experts to reset the ECU and lets see..if problem arise then it is no doubt you might need the sensor..hope this help..

i have a 98 s40. The fuses can be found internal (under the dashboard near the bonnethandle). Inside it you can find the fuse clamp and extra fuses. These can also be used for the external fusebox under the bonnet.
I have found the fuse that might be broken, but i can't replace it because it has some extra casing. It's for internal lights and the alarm.

You will definitely have to take it and have the light reset. Or you could try to take the Negative battery cable off for about 15 minutes, sometimes this will reset the computer.

it seems like you have a a bent axle shaft if so its best to replace it here in the states it costs under 100 dollars.
