IF you are on lpg then check that the gas regulator for icing up and stopping the liquid LPG from turning to gas. If it cuts out on petrol check that there is not a problem with the petrol shut off solenoid . Check the LPG cut off solenoid . I suspect a loose connection or wires to either or both or faulty units

Landrover discovery cuts out on lpg

Dear Charlee1961,

Have you had your system completely checked, made sure that all relevant gas pressure is within normal range, and that the engine has correctly been timed and adjusted in order to compensate for the new fuel?

Have all of the plumbing, the guages and the fuel management and delivery system double checked too. I will need to know if the engine is cutting out on idle, or when you are switching the engine over to use LPG. Will also need to know what conventional fuel this vehicle was using.

I hope to hear from you in the near future, but I hope my simple checks do work things out for you.

Yours sincerely

Ouszen

LPG Engine car servic in Ireland

LPG servicing and safety certifications are usually best done by the companies which supply and fit them, but you may also find that if your local council run a fleet of LPG vehicles that they may also offer the service to local residents.

Otherwise, if in Ireland then Flogas recommend the following installer to install and service LPG vehicles.

The Green Garage,
Lufferton,
Ballintubber
Castlebar,
Co. Mayo
Contact: Patrick Jennings
Tel: +353 86 8164134

You can also check out the Irish LP Gas Association website for other recommendations.

If in Northern Ireland (or within easy reach) you may prefer to check out the FloGas NI website or the Autogas website.

I hope that this has helped you, please take a moment to rate my reply or to add a comment if my answer has failed to fully address your needs at this point so that I can try to provide further assistance.

Started car running on petrol for 5 minutes with lpg switched on, clicking noise from lpg tank, slight smell of gas, when fuel switched to lpg engine cut out. start again on petrol, switch on lpg again,...

could be number of problems but often this is caused by valve on the inlet manifold which is electricaly operated and then it allows the gas in but it is also vacumn sensitive so a perished rubber pipe could cause it not to sense the vacumn .best advice without seeing it is to visit a mechanic that is conversant with LPG conversion
