2002 Pontiac sunfire front and rear left speakers not working ! Any idea what could be wrong ? I heard there is a factory amp do you know where that would be and if that could be the problem

factory amps are located on the stereo unit itself or in the trunk but only if the car was ordered with premium sound and the possibilities of that car being ordered with premium sound is unlikely. so at the harness in the back of the stereo find the speaker wires and hook up a 9 volt battery to the said speakers that dont work if they crackle then its in the stereo if not its the speakers or wires to speakers with battery hooked up and speakers dont crackle go to speaker and test with a vom and test for 9 volts dc

Speaker wiring harness colors

look on the back of the radio and in the plug you will see the wires for the speakers and each speaker pair of wires are opposite each other so you will see say a yellow with a strip and a yellow this is a pair and it doesnt matter which way round they are connected it will still work ,if you dont know what the wires are coming out of the loom use a small battery and connect wires till you hear a blip from speaker then you will know what wires are for what speaker

Cant hear anything out my back speakers just hooked up a after market stereo with wireing kit dont know if the wires match

Don't use the wire that is already there. Sometimes cars have their own amplifiers for the back speakers to help boost the bass. Lay out seperate wires from your radio to the speakers.

Change the speakers

there should be screws in the front door panels hiding under plastic clips at the door handle levers and the grab handel possibly under the window switch pack and along the bottom of the door then you just get a flat putty knife and pop the panels off there are a dozen or so push in plastic clips attached to the back of the door panels, as for the back deck lid you will go in the trunk and remove the ten mm bolts for the third brake light and remove that and look for any other ten mms sticking down and remove them. the rest will be clips that just pop up , make sure you have the proper wire harness adaptors for you stock speaker wireing so you dont have to cut them off to attach your new speakers -jeff

Speakers not working good

The door buzzer chime is on the fuse box cover over the clutch/brake pedal. Trust me, you will enjoy not having it, i removed mine. As far as the radio...on my contour, there is a inline dash amplifier beneath the dash. If you have an aftermarket radio, i would pull the radio out and check the connections. A Haynes Manual #36006 has proven to be very useful with the wiring schematics. Good luck..98contourSVT
