Question about 2002 Ford Escape
Your gas tank is in the back of your car between the frame rails. The fuel line runs up toward the engine along the drivers side frame rail on the inside of the frame rail. The fuel filter is located along that fuel line inside the drivers side frame rail, about at the back of your front door. You should be able to trace the fuel line all the way to the intake of your engine. Once you locate the fuel filter, you will need a special tool to remove the filter from the line. You should be able to get the 'fuel filter tool' at your local auto parts store for under $10. The tool has a flanged end on it, and it 'scissors' open and closed. Place the proper sized end on your fuel line just in front of the filter so that the flange sticks in toward the filter. Gently push the tool in toward the filter, while pulling back on the fuel line. The line should come disconnected. Remember, the fuel line is pressurized and may spray gas for a second or two when it comes apart. Then do the same to the other end of the fuel line. Good luck. Any problems, write back.
