If the test was done fully then you should have had a charge test done to check if the alternator is charging the full output in amps as well as volts they should have also done a "drop test" on the battery to check thats holding its charge if the battery is good and is reciving a good charge then the charging system is working ok,,,to do a quick test on this,,,get a meeter and turn it to "volts DC x 20+" hold it on the battery and start the engine up turn on all head lights, heater, flashers, then rev the engine to a steady 2000rpm and the meeter should read 13.5-14.5 volts DC thats showes its charging ok,,,by volts only! not amps!!
if your having starting up problems like the starter is slow turning the engine over it could be you have a worn out starter,,,

With key on,it should read 12 volts, now check the large wire on the back of the alternator with key off,it should read 12 volts,if it does not, then ,it is not getting voltage from the battery, just run a wire, the same size,or larger on the back, along with the other wire, all the way to the battery positive side. This will solve the problem. If the small wire is not getting voltage from the ignition switch, then there is a fuse blown,or the ignition switch is bad.You can run a wire from the fuse box,to the alternator, just make sure it is on a fuse that just has power with key on,not off.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

Make sure your new alternator is working. Just because it's new doesn't mean it works. Have it tested. Autozone will do it for free.

89 dodge d-150...new altanator. .new battery...truck will run till battery is drained seems like charging system is not working...all grounds are good, there is no external voltage regulator that I have...

The voltage regulator is mounted on the firewall of this truck. There should be a 2 wire plug that plugs into the alternator, one should be green, ground that wire to see if the alternator starts charging. If the voltage output increases then the regulator is bad.

Charging system is not working i thought i have tried everything .maybe i missed something

you actually trust the supposedly knowledgeable "part guys" at your local autozone regarding automotive repair. hmm. well my answer to you is take it to someone or a shop and have them load test your alternator and see if its putting out the sufficient amperage and voltage. make sure you get a good battery, and not of those cheap ones from autozone. i recommend interstate batteries or optima batteries.

Stop by any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc...) and have them do a FREE charging system test and LOAD test your battery. You'll find the culprit.

Battery light on.. new battery installed..still on

The Alternator may not be charging properly.
If you have a handheld voltmeter, put it on the battery when the engine is running, it should show 13.8 volts if the alternator is working.

You can take your alternator to autozone and they will test it for free

1991 honda accord will not charge alternator test good

1st check and make sure you have a good ground on the battery. Check the battery. Make sure it passes a load test. It is possible that the battery is not holding a charge. Make sure all alternator connections are connected.

89 thunder bird. Not charging

Did you hook up the wires from the correctly? Some batteries have the pos and neg reversed on the mounting posts. You may need to double check battery cables and alternator cables are charging. If you have a volt meter, you can perform more diagnostic tests on your own. Like testing output of alternator to ensure you are putting out the correct polarity.
