It would not, there is a fuel line that runs back to the tank along the frame of the car,and the line is most likely leaking

Strong raw fuell smell inside the car intermitantly

Usually, what you smell inside the car is coming thru the vent from the engine compartment.
So it could be a leak around the engine or the vapor canister. Its possible the canister gets overloaded from time to time when the computer vents the gas tank to the canister. A very small leak can be a very strong smell inside the car.

Strong gas odor inside van and outside. Check engine light came on today. No leaks drives fine. just passed emmissions 4days ago

Good thing you passed before the engine light came on. You should mos def get the code from that engine light. If you smell gas you have a leak in the system. Same thing happened to me i had to drop the tank and change the seal around the lid of the fuel pump housing because the smell was coming from under the car and in the car. I also followed my fuel lines and saw some cracks forming so i replaced those and the gas cap for the heck of it. Only $20 for everything but make sure to pull the code first. It reslly makes things easier.

Unexplained coolant loss. Cyl. pressures good don't thing it is head gasket. No visible leaks. Goes thru resovoir daily.

If there isn't a puddle of coolant forming on the driveway after the car sits for awhile and there isn't a puddle inside the passenger compartment, then the problem must lie in the cylinder head or engine block.

My 98 cavalier z-24 is sucking down the gas. i litterally watch the gauge move.

Do you smell gas. Sounds like you have a gas leak somewhere. There is no way the motor will use enough gas that you see the gauge move. It should only leak when the key is on. Good luck..

I have a '92 nissan maxima.. the problem is, there seems to be a fuel leak somewhere. the gas smell is sometimes so bad inside the car, it gives me a headache. a friend looked at the car and said there was...

i would check all your hoses from the gas tank to the engine and if it in the breather if could be that your not burning the fuel and it sending it in the intake instead try spark plugs and wires maybe distributer cap and rotor and if it is still in the intake i see of you injector are sealed right

Why does my car smell like gas & uses way too much gas and is leaking gas on my engine out of a line?

I don't know if your stating that gas is leaking on your engine but anyways....other than the bad syntax in your sentence. You may have leaky injectors and there maybe too much fuel getting into your combustion chamber and getting stuck around the catalytic converter which will give you really bad gas mileage, smell like fuel and destroy you Cat.Converter. Start with injectors to see if they are leaking and check all fuel lines thoroughly. Also check your charcoal canister (black canister on the firewall) to see if its broken, cracked or leaking anything. If its very strong. Check near the tank itself. If you ever see fuel on the ground when you fill your tank, you may have a torn line at the tank or the seal around the gas tanks fuel sending unit is leaking is leaking. Good luck Plz rate

Vehicle smells like gas both inside and out of car after engine is off. Check Engine light is on but no noted deficiences noticed, all fluid levels good. what could be the problem?

If your check engine light is on when the car is running, then that means there is probably a trouble code stored in your vehicles computer. With a code reader, you can find out what the code is. That will direct you to the problem. You can post your code here and we will tell you what it means.
Regarding the 'gas' smell, first check to see if your car is running 'rich'. You can rub your finger inside the tailpipe and see if there is a lot of black soot there, which would indicate its running too rich (too high of a fuel to air mixture). If this is inconclusive to you, remove the spark plugs and check if they are with black soot on them where the pin is. This will tell you how the engine is running in terms of fuel mixture. If they are black, then you have found the problem (fuel injection problem or Oxygen sensor, most likely). The trouble code might also point to this. Other than that, sometimes an exhaust leak can cause fumes to leak up into the car when running. My car had the gas smell problem and it was both a hole in the exhaust under the car and an overly rich fuel mixture. I had black soot inside the tailpipe and black sooty spark plugs and the final problem ended up being a bad oxygen sensor (located on the intake manifold), that was sending an improper signal to the vehicle's computer, thus the reason for the problem.

Engine problem

sounds like no fuel pressure, I had the same problem . theres a molded fuel line between the pump and sending unit inside the tank that was split. , Basically I had a fuel leak inside the gas tank, 2 test pressure the connection is on the fuel rail behind the motor , it should be 40-50 psi
