Question about 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
I have a 2006 Cobalt and i'm having the same problem. My dad charged it to the appropropriate level and its still not working. I'm getting soo frustrated.

You may have overcharged it. You shouldn't add refrigerant to the system without gauges to monitor the pressure levels. It's possible they are now too high causing the compressor to cycle on and off. It's also normal under some conditions for the compressor to cycle on and off as long as the air coming out the vents is cold.

Your A/C pressure switch may have gone bad or the wire harness to it may have gone bad. The switch is along the low pressure line or on the A/C Accumulator ( looks like a silver canister) , Unplug the wire and you can jump it there and see if the clutch comes on, if it does try spreading the two tabs apart on the switch and clipping the wire back on. If it does not come back on you need to replace the switch, you can do it with out loosing to much R134A. Just got to be quick when you remove the old one and placing the new one. The low side should have a reading of 30PSI to 50PSI and the high side should have 150PSI to 200PSI. Any other reading will give you poor A/C performance. Good luck and hope this helps.

first loosen the road wheel nuts. then jack it up. then remove the road wheel. then turn the wheel out (brake side) get a g clamp put one end on the caliber and the other on the outside pad and wind nice and slowly then remove the two bolts holding the caliber and put aside DONOT TOUCH THE BLEEDING NIPPLE OR REMOVE ANY OF THE RUBBER HOSES ON THE BRAKE LINES open the reserveor (BRAKE FLUID CAP) the disk (rotor) look for a retaing screw on it and remove it some cars havem some dont then tap the disk off asemably is the reverse of removel

It could be your low pressure cycle switch is going bad. Check the connection to the switch and it's is located on the A/C Accumulator. The other thing to check is the A/C relay and that is located in the glove box. There is a panel in the glove box that say's relay, there is three relays in there and one of the out side relay's out of the three is the A/C. can not remember which one it is. The middle relay is the fuel pump and the other one is the third break light. Switch the two out side relays and see if your A/C get's better. the other thing too is if the R134a is just a little low, and needs to be topped off.
