Hi,

I could only provide you with the ballpark estimate i have. As per the latest listing, this is indeed a good price.A dealer would cost you around $ 4600 and Independent trans shop would cost you around $3500.This re built trans option is the best and the low cost solution. However, it is always advisable to get the full details of the work they need to do and then compare it with other shops.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Is it my transmission or my transfer case

Many transmission shops "save" you money on a transmission job by only replacing the faulty torque converter, but not replacing the electronic modules that sit on top of the transmission. The Transmission Control Module (TCM) also called a Transmission Control Unit (TCU) sounds like it is faulty... very common after a transmission repair... it probably contributed to the old one dying. Bring it back to the same shop, if you trust them, and they can diagnose this quickly. It should be a $300 to $500 fix.

Auto transmission will not shift into 2nd gear

A problem a lot of drivers experience is their cars won't shift from first to second gear. That could lead to number of different problems, overheating being one of them. If you think there is a problem with your transmission then the first thing you should always do is check your transmission fluid levels.

This solves a lot of transmission problems but if you still can't shift then you may need to look at your throttle cables. A faulty throttle cable that has too much slack can prevent proper shifting, or shifting at all for that matter.

Where do you add transmission fluid for a 2007 chevy hhr

Chevrolet recommends that the transmission fluid be changed every 50,000 miles, but Chevy intended the transmission to be serviced only by authorized repair shops. For this reason, the HHR does not feature a transmission fluid dipstick. However, the HHR's transmission fluid can still be checked without exotic tools.

It is important to check the fluid level only after the fluid has circulated throughout the transmission by shifting through the gears. Failing to allow the fluid to circulate will result in a false fluid level reading. Turn the engine on and shift through each of the transmission's gears with the brake pedal depressed and the parking brake applied. The car should be allowed to idle in each gear position for approximately five seconds. Turn the engine off, then climb underneath the passenger's side of the vehicle. A small plug is located on the passenger's side of the transmission. Remove this plug with a wrench. Turn the engine on and observe whether any fluid drips out of the transmission plug's opening. If fluid does begin to drip from the plug opening, the transmission does not require additional fluid. Turn the engine off and install the transmission plug.

If fluid did not begin to drip out of the transmission's plug, transmission fluid must be added. Turn the engine off, then remove the black breather cap from the top of the transmission. The circular breather cap twists into the transmission. Twist the cap in a counterclockwise direction until it detaches from the transmission. Because of the lack of clearance between the breather cap's opening and the bottom of the vehicle, transmission fluid cannot be poured into the breather cap opening. Attach a fluid pump to a quart-sized container of new transmission fluid. Insert the pump's hose into the transmission through the breather cap's opening. Turn the engine on, then actuate the pump until fluid just begins to drip out of the plug's opening on the side of the transmission. Screw the breather cap onto the top of the transmission, then install the plug with a wrench.

Hello! I've got some trouble and trying to find out what the deal is. My olds 88 is a 97 and i'm having trouble with the gas where say i'm going about 50, it drops into a lower gear and when it does that,...

Yes, It is on your transmission / gear box problem. Please get it fixed then and no need to do something to your engine ( other than transmission / gear box). Otherwise just the the set of transmission.

My 1997 ford taurus transmission slips when it shifts to second

this is caused by a piston in the transmission that has a crack in it once it warms up the crack seals and operates normally.being cold the crack opens up allowing fluid to flow past it. take to trans shop as soon as you can, will be minimum repair if it has not caused further damage in the transmission.
