Question about 2000 Hyundai Accent

I have exhaust bubbling out of my radiator over flow and dont kno if its cus the head gasket is blown or if its just steam evaporating because the water pump isn't working on a 2000 hyundai accent

If you have excessive bubbling comming out of the radiator or overflow, its usually because of compression leaking into your cooling system caused by a blow head gasket or cracked block. If the watter pump isnt circulating coolant its most likely over boiling the coolant in the motor. Best suggestion is to leak down test the motor with the rad cap off. See if you're loosing pressure and if so, check if the pressure is comming out of the rad. If it is loosing pressure and comming out of there, you have one of the following issues above. If not repair the water pump, change the thermostat as well and re-check

Oil and white smoke from exhaust


DRIVE THE CAR AROUND TO CLEAR THE EXAUST PIPES FROM ALL THE OIL AND WATER INSERTED IN THEM WHEN THE ENGINE BROKE!!!TAKE IT FOR A LONG TEST DRIVE AND KEEP UR EYS OPEN FOR INCREACING TEMP OR OIL WARNING........DONT WORRY THE CAR IS OK!!

It was over heating sputtering running rich


It's difficult to answer from your brief description but it could be a blown head gasket, bad radiator, stuck thermostat, or the cooling system may be air locked. The oxygen sensor could be causing it to run rich.

Before digging into a head gasket do a few more things....

Does the Cooling fan(s) come on? No, check relays? If it has 2 fans turn A/C on, one should come on.

Check engine oil, is it over full and milky looking? Indicates Blown Head Gasket

Open Coolant over flow bottle is it bubbling if so does it smell like exhaust fumes? Indicates Blown Head Gasket

1990 Honda civic si.....overheating...was told that head gasket is shot...done a compression test on all 4 cylinders...all had at least 135 psi or higher...antifreeze is clean..no oil...although overflow...


Hi, I have a way to test for a blown head gasket. Since you have good compression, yours would have to be small. Recommend you park on an incline, remove the radiator cap, set the heater on high, start the car and let it warm up until there is flow in the radiator. Fill the radiator and keep it full while the engine continues to run. Look for any bleed ports the system may have either in the hoses or at the attach point housings. Crack any bleeders open to allow any air out. Top off the radiator all the way to the neck and make sure there are no bubbles coming up. Bubbles coming out the radiator are an indication of a blown head gasket.

I think my car blew its head gasket,but theirs no water in oil,if idling temperature stay normal,fans do come on when idling for long.I`ve changed spark plugs,plug wires,thermostat and heat sensor unit.As...


white smoke from the exhaust and overheating would almost certainly mean a blown head gasket.
the head gasket has gone between a cylinder and a cooling channel so exhaust gasses can get in to the cooling system resulting in the boiling and water from the cooling system is getting into the cylinder resulting in the white smoke (actually steam) from the exhaust.
the exhaust manifold is a separate issue that can be replaced when the head gasket is repaired.

remove radiator cap, run engine, and look for bubbles coming up. Bubbles indicate blown head gasket. Also check exhaust for excess moistness/steam.

Toyota wont start over heated replace the thermostat and radiator cap could it be the water pump is bad how do I tell


if it wont start immediatly after it overheated then you may have blown the head gasket, or melted a coolant temp sensor or other sensor or wire. look closly for the melted stuff. remove radiator cap and fill with water to the top of the rim. have someone crank it and if a air bubbles come out while cranking then a headgasket is most likely blown. some little bubbles at first dont mean nothing. its a steam of bubbles the whole time its being cranked that indicates head gasket

How do you know if you cracked your head gasket, or if it's blown, or if it is something wrong with your car.


Engine cold, you open the radiator cap. You'll lose some coolant, so having a deep drip pan underneath is advisable. Be aware that antifreeze is poisonous to pets, as they are attracted to the sweet smell, and will drink it. It is also bad for humans, and should be kept away from children. Can cause blindness.
(Thanks for letting me state that. I feel better now)

First thing, pull the oil dipstick, and observe where the oil level is. You should have your vehicle on a flat level surface. Wipe the dipstick off with a clean rag, and recheck the level. If it is way overfull, and has yellowish globs, you have a blown head gasket, or a cracked engine block.

Getting the engine too hot, can cause a blown head gasket. Not enough antifreeze, or changing it when it's the change interval, can cause the engine to freeze, and crack the block.
Bring the dipstick close to your nose, and see if you can smell antifreeze.

Start the engine and observe the coolant. You may need a flashlight. You will see some bubbles as the coolant flows, through the coolant tubes of the radiator. This is normal. As the engine warms up, and the thermostat opens, if you see a constant stream of bubbles coming to the top, you have a blown head gasket.

I own a m reg 95 model civic. The car is overheating steam is coming out of the radiator. I tested the cooling fan and it does not seem to come on when the engine is hot. HELP!


I hate to say it but you might have blown a head gasket. Try this- in the morning/anytime, (cold engine) pop the hood and remove the radiator cap. Start the engine. If it bubbles/blows out antifreeze- yep, blown head gasket. Most people think you'll have water in your oil if you do have a blown head gasket. It can blow 2 ways. Exhaust gases into coolant passage (your case) or vise versa (hince the water/antifreeze in oil). Try that- lemme' know
