Question about 1981 Ford Bronco

Hello I have a 1980 Ford Bronco 351 2bbl. Wondering if anyone knows which screws adjust what? Please if anyone has any ideas please respond. Thank you.

    Thank you so much. It is a Motorcroft, and all the adjustments screws on the carburator would be great.

    When car is cold it starts good, runs about 30 seconds and dies. then starts again easily, sometimes it will do this 2-3 times. Then runs rough till it levels out and runs good. It has a 3.8L engine. Please help confused. Thank you.

Adjust the curb idle with the engine warmed up and the choke off.

The air/fuel mixture screws should be adjusted with the engine warmed up and at normal idle speed, then turn each air/fuel mixture screw in one at a time until the engine just begins to mis-fire, then back the air/fuel mixture screw out 1-1/2 to 2 turns out a half a turn at a time until the engine idle is the smoothest. (your vehicle might have restrictor caps over the air/fuel mixture screws to limit the amount of adjustment)

To adjust the vacuum tension pull on the choke pull-off:

Adjust the fast idle screw to the proper RPM with the engine cold and the choke on.

    If that Olds 3.8 is fuel injected or has a mixture controlled carburetor then it sounds like it might be the CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) for the computer and not the temperature sending unit for the temperature gauge/light. Most Oldsmobile engines usually have a sensitive cooling temperature circuit that the computer uses, and when the CTS gets out of range on some Oldsmobile engines they will not even start.

I have an 83 bronco with a 351w i changed to a small rv cam and replaced the timing gears and chain. It will start and idle fine but when I put it in gear it will back fire and sputter when i give it gas....


You may need to adjust the timing via the distributor. Usually when changing the cams in older engines some custom tweeking is needed. You also may need to slightly adjust the fuel pressure when changing the cam. Is this engine have a throttle body or a carburetor?

How do you remove the rotor in the distributor once the cap is off.  It won't come off the distributor.

sounds like your rear differential is about to go out you should take it in to a shop right away before you get stuck somewhere. they will have to rebuild it.

F150 seat should work in the 94 bronco if not you could remove thebraces and sliders of the bronco and put them on the other seats..

the idle screw can be located by following the throttle cable to the carby body, you will find a quarter wheel which the cable hooks into at the bottom you'll see adjustment screw, this will adjust your idle speed.
