Some people received a letter from Ford last April 2014, telling them the Lighting Control Module, or LCM, can quit working without notice so they had extended the warranty to 15 years instead of announcing a recall. It's called "Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01". I called the Ford Dealership this morning and discovered I could get in Monday first thing to have it checked out, but the part is on a three month back order so they can't fix it, and so an appointment will only waste my time. It will be free, so call a dealership. I'd put money down that that is your problem. A facebook group is trying to get Ford to order a recall at https://www.facebook.com/groups/14N01/ .

Just to update everyone: The Ford dealership was a pain to deal with! My LCM still isn't replaced and have decided to repair it myself as it's pretty straight foreward how to replace the relays. You can buy a "bypass" part that plugs into the original LCM from Dorman (part#599-200) IF only your headlights are out. Mine is everything though.

96 crown Victoria lights flickering on and off

This problem is caused by a heat damaged headlight switch and the connector to it, replace both parts, the connector is available as a repair part as well as the switch. When you replace the connector (A MUST DO!) SOLDER IT ON, NO SPLICE CONNECTORS! Shrink tube the connections. If you don't replace both parts then the new switch will quickly fail again and back to blinking headlights.

When I turn off my car its a 2004 crown victoria the headlights stay on for a long time how do I need to set the switch so that they won't stay on for a long time?

It sounds like the delay needs to be reset...You should have a set and reset button on dash...Mash the set button...look at the gauges and there should be a LED message window where the odometer is scroll with the arrows until you see headlight delay reset appear I think the maximum is maybe 3 or 5 minutes.....The best thing to do is check owners manual it will tell you exactly what I am trying to describe...THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH SHOULD HAVE A SELECTOR MODE TO SHUT THE DELAY OFF COMPLETELY.

Replace 2004 Crown Victoria headlight

From the engine compartment, unlock the 3 tabs that are over the headlight housing area. Remove the cover and unscrew the plastic ring that has the wires protruding from it. Carefully pulls the light fixture out of the housing. Pull the 2 L-shaped tabs up and remove the lens section. Reverse the steps to re-install the headlight. If replacing the full turn signal housing, unscrew 2 screws from each light , disconnect bulb wiring and remove. Replace accordingly.

Headlight problem

I guess that means replacing the bulbs didn't work? The only other thing might be the dimmer switch. Its located on the bottom of the steering column, about halfway down fron the steering wheel.
