Check for a broken timing belt....this would explain no spark because the rotor button turn by the camshaft and the crankshaft turns the camshaft via the timing belt.hope this helps,
Ken
I'm having the same problem now with my 95 mazda 929, i'm being told it could be 1 of 3 things if the starter is good, it could be the neutral safety switch, starter relay, or the ignition switch going bad
well it started first time ,then stopped so the fault lies with the fuel pump ,is the multiplug connection secure ,is the earth ok ,could it be a faulty motor from the scrapyard??
get spark tester and start testing from the spark plugs back. first hook it to aplug wire and check for spark if no spark ten hook it to the coil wire and check for spark if no spark then there is a chance that your coil or ignition module is bad if it is equipt with electronic ignition.
