Question about Mercury Mountaineer

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer V6 AWD. Check Engine Light came on, brought it to a dealer. The code came up that I needed to replaced the solenoid. I replaced that, engine light never shut off. It has been on for almost a year now. They hooked it back up to read the code and it still says the same thing, even though that part has already been replaced....what can I do?

If the part has been replaced and codes have been reset, then you have a faulty check engine light.just have the dealer document it for and you show still pass inspection if it is required

ABS Light Stays On

Since you replaced the pick up units or sensors, check the tone rings on the axle shafts. The tone rings is what the sensors detect and are located at each wheel that has ABS. A tone ring looks like this:

This tone ring is on a Ford Ranger - which is pretty much the same as your Mointaineer. Notice the break in the tone ring. This will cause an ABS Fault indicator and will need to be replaced to extinguish the lamp. Check the brake fluid level and top off if needed.

Try another AutoZone or similiar to get a code and be non-specific about the light - just say a light came on on the dash and you don't know what it is about.

Good luck!

I have a 2003 Mountaineer v-8 AWD with "check

Left side,Drivers side

Either in the converter inlet or just ahead if it

Bank (1) Pass Side
Bank (2) Drivers Side
Sensor (1) closest to engine
Sensor (2) monitor sensor in outlet of converter

An O2 Code does not mean it is bad or needs to be replaced.
Could be any number of other causes that set a MIL Lamp
on dash

I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer V6 AWD. Check Engine Light came on - brought it to the dealer and they said the code was to replace the solenoid. Had that replaced and after driving it away, light came...

Replace what solenoid specifically? What was the trouble code? Most parts stores will pull OBD-2 codes for you for free and give you a brief description of what they mean. I would try that then come back here.

My 2003 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD transfer case needs to be replaced. What problems can occur if left untreated?

the problem is the chain inside strechs, could cause case damage, it will soon break and then truck wont move, depending on how bad it is you may be able to drive a bit more, threres just alot of strain there because of it being awd, if it is noisey it doesnt have to be replaced just fixed, good luck.

In 97 mercury mountaineer, how to turn off "check engine" light

Go to the local parts store, have them check the codes (they will do this for free usually). It will tell you what sensor needs to be checked/replaced. Once the part is replaced, it will clear on its own. They can also reset the code, but it will come back if the trouble persists.

Abs light comes on

U WILL NEED TO HAVE THE DEALER RUN AN ABS TROUBLE CODE RETRIVAL TEST, THEN THAT WILL GIVE U THE CIRCUIT OR SENSOR TO CHECK FOR THE FAULT THAT IS TURNING THE LIGHT ON.
