I found the relay - driver side of steering column up under the dash. Tested it and it seems fine. Clicks once then again in a few seconds when you turn the key to the on position. Still no fuel pressure or sound from the fuel pump. Could it be the ignition switch?

Found the problem. A mouse/rodent had chewed the wires into leading from the fuel pump to the relay. Lucky that it was in the trunk and not somewhere inaccessbile.

The relay may be located in the under hood fuse/relay box.
Check your manual for the location of the relay, if listed.
Check for a sticker on the inside of the under hood fuse/relay box for a possible guide.

If you found the relay clicking it could still be a relay, with burnt contacts. It could also be a wire going between the relay and the pump.

That's good that you tested the old pump and it seemed to work fine.

Found the problem to be damaged wiring in the trunk leading to the fuel pump. A mouse or some such had chewed two of the wires in to and damaged the third one. Blessed that it was in the trunk and not some place inaccessible.

I'm glad you found the wiring problem- a rat chewed through it. Cheers.

Something similar happened to our car once and a mower once where a rodent or some creature actually chewed through the wires that made the car not start or run out in a house that was near some farmland. lol.

I sometimes wonder why a creature would chew through a wire or wires.

I hope your Honda pump is fixed now that you determined that it was wiring that was broken.

    Have a good day.

2007 honda accord diesel cuts out then takes ages to start, also goes into limp mode, states fuel rail pressure on diagnostic, had injectors tested, had new high pressure fuel pump, had new filter and hous

replace the high pressure pump with a known good normal pressure pump and see if it fixes the problem. Fuel systems are built around a pump supplying enough fuel to maintain operating pressure . There is a pressure regulator that keeps the pressure steady and a pressure sensor switch that turns the pump on and off as required . Pressure can only be generated when the fuel supplied exceeds the flow requirements and all units are built to suit the requirements of the system. By adding a high pressure pump that means that there is far more fuel than is required and it is possible that the pressure regulator is incapable of unloading sufficient fuel to accommodate it . Therefore the injectors will be getting more fuel than required and so the whole system goes to pot.

I have a 92 honda accord and it keeps dieing

Fuel pump relays are a common problem with Hondas.
I would check the fuel pressure when it won't start.
You may also have a problem with the fuel filter or the pump.
There is a long list of possibilities.
Is the check engine light on ?

1992 Honda Accord will start and idle, but dies on acceleration and when put in gear. Cat is not plugged. New fuel filter installed. Please advise.

Sounds like the fuel pump. Have the fuel pressure checked with a Pressure Test Guage. Different cars have different fuel pressure requirements, but for a fuel injected vehicle should be somewhere in the area of 40-60 psi. Also check that fuel filter was not installed backwards, on some vehicles this can restrict fuel flow,

1992 honda accord fuel pump wont engage

Check the fuse, fuel pump relay, and wiring to the pump. If all these are good the pump has probably failed and need replacing. In rare cases it can be a problem with the ECU.

I would change your fuel filter, if that doesn't do it check your fuel pressure with a gauge at your schrader this is a pretty simple test if you are not getting enough pressure, then test your fuel pressure regulator, if it's bad replace it. if it's good got to your fuel pump, I am assuming you don't have or even know what a DSO is, so if you traced it to a fuel pump, take it to an auto technican and ask them to do a fuel current ramping test and this will tell you your fuel pump rpm's most of todays properly operating fuel pumps spin from at least 4000 rpm to 6500 rpm. happy motoring!
