Question about 1998 Volvo V70
The bearing in the a/c compressor could be going bad. Try adding a few ounces of oil to the a/c to get rid of this noise by adding a small can of r134a with oil.
Otherwise, the compressor may have to be replaced to eliminate the noise, if it's worth it to you to spend hundreds of dollars on it.
