Question about 2002 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

Hello I have a 2003 GMC Envoy with 200.000KM on it and when I got my cruise control on, the RPM will fluctuate from 2500 to 3500 up and down. It never happened in the morning but in the evening after work. I leave in Kuwait and in the evening it's very hot here 120 degrees. Also when I drive the car it feels heavy like if I was pulling something.Sometime even if I push hard on the gaz, the car won't go pass 120 kmh or 140 Kmh. I got a tune up done changed my full pump, fuel filter I changed the trans. oil, filter, gasket I don't and the problem is still happening can't anyone please help me?

Should idle between 500-600. Clean your throttle body with the battery disconnected to help with the fluctuation. The roaring very well could be your fan clutch. Fan clutches are a known problem with our platform. If engaged, will sound like an airplane.

Look at the vacuum hose on the cruise control actuator. It may have gotten gummy or lost it's grip on a connector.

Rpm gauge not working

Could be a bad instrument cluster (bad stepper motor) or the vehicle speed sensor is bad. Does cruise control work, if it does then it is the cluster.

The idle speed is controlled by the computer.
Why do you need it be above 800 rpm ?

Cruise control stopped working on 2003 envoy what part do I need I need

I would check the fuses first. Then the switch down by the brake pedal. If not that then have someone plug a OBD II reader in and find out for sure.
