It needs replacing.I have found a link so you can at least look at the part. Also it looks like you have 2 or 3 engine possibilities. It looks basically like just an air intake. If you have some mechanical knowledge and not afraid to get dirty it can be self-repaired(or so it appears). It probably would go somewhere near the end output of your air filter. It may not be quick and easy though. It also looks like they go for around $130 and up.The website I see it on shows a core charge so I would not buy it online because you would need to ship it back and it probably takes a couple weeks to get the core credit back. Here is the appearance link.

I saw some remanufactured ones.I recommend you DO NOT purchase these.I could not find any help on how to replace it.Local libraries sometimes carry haynes repair manuals which tells anything you want to know or you may want to consult a dealer or shop.Good luck!

Timing issue , mass air flow sensor , vacuum leaks , crank , cam sensor etc.... without test and just replacing part wouldn't be very intelligent . Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair technicians.

My Chevy 2000 Impala chokes while driving?

If you mean acts like it's starving for fuel. You start by checking fuel pressure it should increase when you accelerate. If that checks ok then you need to check your mass air flow sensor.

My chevy impala lacks power and acts very bad sluggish while accelerating

Any check engine/service engine soon light? Could be a clogged catalytic convertor, search for cleaning a catalytic convertor. Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, it is before the throttle plate. If you are losing coolant, your engine is prone to this, it could be leaking intake gaskets.

Does a 2001 chevy impala come with a map sensor or just a mass air flow sensor ?

They have both. If you have a 3.1/3.4L, the map sensor is located at the rear of the engine compartment directly beside the ignition coils. If you have a 3.8L, I believe it is located at the front of the engine (right side of engine bay).

I have a 2000 Chevy Impala and my car only stay crank if my foot is on the gas, when I release , it shuts off. It's not the mass air flow sensor or fuel pump what can it be??

Inspect, clean or replace the Idle Air control valve...about $35 for the part...also how is the air filter? A clogged catalytic converter can cause this too? ( A free check at quality muffler shops. Hope this helps.

2001 kia optima hesitates on acceleration gets better when warm, but still does it, has 2.4 engine

3 possible problems your mass are flow meter/senso could be going bad but not bad enough to register a fault, the same for your idle air valve and also your throttle position sensor. all 3 of these are on your throttle body .
with the engine running tap the side of the mass air flow with the back of a screw driver, if the engine sputers mass air flow needs replaced.you can try cleaning it with some mass air flow cleaner if you cant find that at your auto parts store get some electrical parts wash. your idle air valve needs to be cleaned or replaced there hard to get off. your throttle position sensor , you need to know the setting ,if the auto parts store cant give you aprint out of instuctions best to let a kia dealership do it and pay out the ****.

Need to know what codes 12 and 33 mean,thanks/93 chevy lumina, auto trans.

Code 12 is just a code telling you that you are in the diagnostic mode and it is working. Code 33 is a mass air flow error code. The computer is detecting mor air going into the engine then required at the detected rpm for more than 5 seconds. Could be caused by a faulty connection(wiring harness, ect) to a bad ECM(electronic control module) or MAF(mass air flow) sensor. Also the TPS(throttle position sensor) could be out of adjustment.
