Question about Saab 9 3

I have a saab 2006 that has went into limp home mode, and has been plugged into a computer and is said to have a throttle position sensor bad. It has been replaced and the machanic cant reset the code and the car runs the same with the new $400 dallar part.

Heres the sad part of electronic controlled engines. i had a problem with my olds cutlass . one day it needed an egr, week later it needed an 02 sensor, few days later it needed a vss sensor.....................after talking to a QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN ~ i bought the 100 dollar ecm (brain) and the problems all went away. the ecm was bad and was giving out a different code everyday.
if yours went into limp home mode ( your chipset is loose or bad) wires to ecm can be loose / dirty or wet / an electrical spike zapped something in the ecm lots of possible problems. my camaro only goes into limp home mode when i take out my chip, or when someone kicks the ecm. of course i program my own chips, and leave the ecm sitting on the passenger floor. it sounds like you have a microchip problem on your ecm, making it go into limp mode

It sounds like your 9-3 is in Limp-Home mode. In which case, you are right - it is hitting a temporary limiter. The most typical of the causes I see are from an aging Direct Ignition Cassette (DIC). When there is a fault detected in the DIC module, the throttle body lets the throttle spring kick down to what is known as Limp-Home mode. Although it can be ratcheted back to the normal position, if the DIC misfire is detected again, the same will happen. I'd have a shop take an OBD-II reare to it and confirm. If it is the DIC, replace it, and have them reset the error code and the throttle body.

SOUNDS LIKE the throttle position sensor (tps) (will cause surging), or mass air sensor (mas) if equipped (or your equivalent) Unplugging the mass air sensor will cause the computer to switch to limp home mode, which will clean up the idle till you replace the sensor, ( usually located on the air intake tube or at the air cleaner) These are sometimes on the ame circuit as the crank sensor (picked up on the scanner), but the coils and crank are totally the wrong direction. I have a 2001 Isuzu rodeo that cuts out continually and just recently went into limp mode. I have checked the spark plugs and I can hear the fuel pump running. I have not tried the idle air control yet,...

The TPS will cause it to cut out. When a sensor fails, the computer will go in the limp in mode so it will get you home or to a garage to see what the problem is.

Hi my Saab 2001 93 2.0 turbo convertible has lost power get into limp home mode I reset it every few weeks codes come up p1105 p1260 p1251 p 1264 what do u think is wrong ?

code p1105 refers to manifold absolute pressure(MAP) sensor, TC system-leak detected. causes ---intake leak, ---hoses There are to references to p1105 The second response is still map sensor but the causes are---TC system--mechanical fault--air leak between throttle body-TC,map sensor---TC system--exhaust blockage
code p1260 refers to throttle return spring--weak spring force. causes ---mechanical fault,--,throttle control unit
code p1264 refers to throttle valve opening-accelerator released causes ---throttle control unit---mechanical fault

Check n recalibrate the throttle body at the dealer with Tech2, possble electric throttle body failure causing ECM goes into the limp mode.

Yes the throttle and pedal sensor can do this, but doesnt reduce power,Your cam postion sensor reduces power and if you thing it gives a engine code,it doesnt have to,This sensor is back up by the crank position sensor,The location of this sensor is in the back of the cylinder head

Check the battery and the Alternator. Sometimes with these Saabs, when the alternator or the battery start to go bad, you will have many different symptoms all to do with just one issue. You can remove the battery and the alternator, take it to a parts store and they do free testing on those and they can tell you if either is bad or not. The Alternator needs to be out of the vehicle to be tested.

2001 passat 1.8 car starts fine but has no power and when you push on accelerator pedal and hold it steady the rpms will rise another 1000 rpms or so.fuel pump and regulator check out fine.

APP sensor went to limp home mode. The APP or throttle control uses to angle sensor when one sensor does not report it goes to limp home mode.The ECM cross checks the throttle angle so one is off. The late module assembly that is used is mounted to the floorand was more damage from spilled drinks. some where water damage the majority where coffe damage.go to the floor pedal position gain acces to the connector the inside connector may be contaminated,if you decide to clean it youll need a electrical cleaner clean the inside connectors, with the engine off.
