How do you remove the head unit from a kia rio 2003 ls?

You really need to get the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. Aside from having to remove and disassemble a great deal of the Engine to get to this there is a specific order and method to removing the head retaining bolts and if done incorrectly the head will crack.

Tips for changing the head gasket on a 2004 Kia Rio, I heard that I had to use new bolts and that 2 were shorter than the others but I am confused about the tightening of the bolts to 36ft/lbs and then...

you have to do it this way so that the bolts dont lift or back out of the head and then the new gasket will blow the gasket again as if you never did the job.
You come this far finish by doing the job RIGHT you will be proud.
The old blots can not be reused becaused they already have been torqued (stretched) and they Won't work, they will never tighten to specs
