roll down the window, use a wedge to spread the gap, use a light to look into the door space, you are going to have to locate the linkage and get something like a wire hanger to pull it and open the door. Then you can take the door panel off.
oftan times its the master controle switch on the driver side that allows the power for the passanger sid the other comman problem is the harnes in the door jam has a broken wire or more than one take the pannel off the kick pannle off unplug the harness at the kick pannel take the rubber loom cover between the door and the rig loose pull some wire through so you can see it and find the break and repair hoped this helped
Roll the window down first, you will need 2 hands. Pull the small cover off that is at the top front of the door pannel. You will then disconnect the wire connector and remove the three 11mm nuts that are holding the mirror in place. Pull mirror out and replace.
If you dont have just that little pannel you will have to remove the door pannel. If you dont have power windows pull the cover out on the window crank and move it to the side, there will be a screw holding the crank in place. Remove it. If you do have power windows remove the window control switch plate (it will just pop up using a small screwdriver) and disconnect the wires. If equipped, remove the front door trim panel reflector or the courtesy lamp lens. Then remove the screws. DO NOT pull directly outward on the door pannel, something will brake. Remove the front door trim panel by pulling it straight upward.Lift and remove the front door trim panel. Then the nuts holding the mirror will be visible, remove and replace the mirror.
Got kids? VW electric convertible top - I found dried milk in the switch had same problem on turn on convertible opened and would not close, would have to use manaul bypass foldup. Pull window controller spray with a electrical cleaner then try it. If not dirty the switch is bad. May be in driver door switch or on rear door? Good luck.
Sounds like bad master switch in the drivers door or the wiring in that door jamb. Try holding the control to move the vent window while moving the rubber containing the wiring to the door with the door open if something moves back there its a wire ready to break. if so pull the boot and check/repair the wire
Since you can get the door open, half the battle is already won. Yes, open the door, pull the interior door panel and take a look around. Watch inside with a flashlight (towards the rear of the door) as you roll the window down to see if you can see what it's snagged on.
I have the exact same problem on a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004. The rear passenger window rolls down only from the rear passenger window and won't go up or down from the front. It has to be in the wiring because the problem was intermittent initially and a new window motor does the exact same thing. If you figured it out or have the wiring diagram please let me know.
