Question about Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

I have a 1995 Dakota 3.9l. Yesterday it had spark but no gas, but today it has no spark either. Any suggestions. I understand the fuel pump runs off a signal from the tach, can these problems have a common cause?

It is most likely the pick up coil in the distributor,it is a common thing to have go out on these.

Need to siphon gas out of 1995 Dodge Dakota. Can't get siphon hose to work.

Unhook fuel line up front, slip a hose over it and into a container. Turn key on and let fuel pump empty tank. Be extra careful.not to start a fire.

How to bench test a fuel pump before installing it in fuel tank?

Run a Tube on both ends pump. you can use gas as the fluid since you'll have to prime it any ways. You put one end in the gas tank the other hold to opening to flow back into tank. Big thing to remember is that the pump has a arrow that shows which way the flow goes. Two way to set up leads on pump is straight jumpers off the battery. This is the safe way to do this. Gator clips to battery so you can disconnect there and not at pump.""""No sparks by gas!!!!!""""

2003 dodge dakota will not turn over

Get codes read at parts store or get friend with scanner to check them. Note: you should not smell fuel in throttle body as fuel never goes there. Could be bad crank sensor/cam sensor, fuse for ignition, module, others.

If fuel pump relay is bad yes it will still get spark.

I have a 1995 chrysler lebaron, it has not given me any problems. Done nothing weird until today, i had driven around made serveral stops, when i came out from the last one my car wouldn't start. Turns...

Well, look for spark, if you have it to the plugs, verified, then try having someone pound on the low spot of the fuel tank. while you try to start. Sometimes this will allow a fuel pump to restart. If that does it, replace the pump soon, it is pricey.

My 1995 Honda Accord shut off just after leaving work on the freeway yesterday and this morning after driving 30 miles to work. When i tried to restart it it sounded like it wasn't getting gas. Waited...

Before replacing the fuel pump an finding out it isn't the problem ,have the vehicle checked . Could be ignition system problem , bad ignition module .Check for spark After it shut's off . No spark would sound the same way ( sounded like it wasn't getting gas. )

My 1995 honda civic started sputtering yesterday, it got progressively worse. Today it stopped on the side of the road. It won't start now, just turns over.

First, Distributor: Coil (which is in your distributor); igniter (ignition control module) also in your distributor, rotor, distributor cap--all possibilities, especially is you are not getting spark to the plugs.
Next, Fuel pump: It is fairly typical for honda electric fuel pumps (it is IN your gas tank, under an access cover that is under the rear seat) to, when failing, work, then not work, then work, then stop working altogether. If you are not getting fuel to your fuel rail, then it's a good bet that it's your fuel pump. (If you can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key to ON, but without turning the car over, that would indicate that your fuel pump is working. Have someone listen over the back seat, or maybe you can hear it if everything else is quiet). If it runs, it could be a plugged fuel filter, but that's not as much of a possibility.
So, check the distributor components (getting spark?) and the fuel pump (getting gas?).
Hope this helps you get started on the problem.

2003 dodge dakota. v6, will nto start. ran fine yesterday and today will not start. battery is fine and vechile cranks. kinda coughing and sputtering. will not actuall start.

Its a fuel issue. First be sure you have gas. If you do then your fuel pump has lost it's prime. You either have a leak in a fuel line someplace or a bad fuel pump.
