No, usually when the check engine light comes on it giving you more of an engine or emissions problem. Your local auto store can usually check the light out and give you a problem area it may be.

Check the brake light switch atop the brake pedal arm . probably not the fuse . Go to http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . Enter your vehicle info . year ,make , model ,engine size . Then under system click on lighting , then under subsystem click stop lamps . Check wire color into switch an check for B+ voltage . Then press the brake pedal an check for B+ voltage on the out put wire . No voltage coming out with voltage going in .the switch is bad .

check the fuse box under the hood for loose fuses or burned connections connecting the fuses in there sockets, older vehicles will use fuseable links under the hood usually at the starter , they may be poorly connected or corroded, also check all engine and body grounds and battery terminals and all connections at them

a year make and model of your vehicle would be very helpful for me to be more helpful to you!!

IF YOU OPEN BRAKE LINE ON BRAKE CALIPER WHILE CHANGING BRAKE PADS IT WILL CAUSE BRAKE FLUID LOST CAUSING AIR IN BRAKE SYSTEM IN WHICH BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON.YOU NEED TO BLEED BRAKES.

Abs light emergency light stay on

Hi, You should check for a sligt break fluid leak from the break light switch (attacked to the master cylinder). Yeah, I know this seems strange, but on my 2001 this leak caused all types of problems with lots of dashboard indicators. The leaking switch was a recall for Ford Trucks, but not the minivans. Hope this helps

1992 Honda Accord LX Brake Light Switch Repair

Of course you can make this repair! I'm wondering about the faulty bulb that shorted out all the brake lights...not sure if that's what happened. Your brake light switch is located on the brake pedal, up above where your foot goes. It has a plug in connector which you unplug, then loosen the locknut where it attaches to the pedal.Put in the new switch, lock nut 1st, then plug it in. Note that the locknut is the adjustment point that determines when your brake lights go on. Adjust the locknut so that the brake lights go on when the pedal is depressed within 1/2 an inch (13mm)of pushing down on it. If the switch is adjusted without enough play (say 1/8 inch or less), brake lights may flicker on and off when you go over a bump.If over 1/2 inch, brake lights might go on only if great force on pedal is used (or not at all, yikes!).For good diagrams of parts check out South Bay Honda (hondapartscheap)web site. You enter the year, model, engine, and you can scroll thru tons of parts. If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to post it for me. countrycurt0
