This is going to sound crazy but remove the passenger side headlight you will see the bucket assembly that the light sits in it,s plastic at the bottom of light bucket trim out a little hole about three or four inch square once removed you will see the fan relay held in by two screws if you don,t cut hole for access you will have to remove front bumper cover assembly alot of work and the hole deal is better it does,nt hurt a thing once headlight is back in you will never know little hole is there this is a tremendous time saver hope this helps

When I turn the engine off the engine cooling fan stays on and does not shut off

depending on the engine temperature the fan is supposed to remain on after you turn the engine off, until the engine reaches a preset cooler temperature. when it reaches cooler temperature usually within 5 minutes or so it should cut off... if you cut it off and it is running 30 minutes later.. then there is a problem with the fan relay or temperature sending unit.

1986 Mazda 323 coolant fan comes on when motor is hot and stays on.

Is the engine actually cooling off? If the temp switch isn't seeing a drop in temperature, it will keep the fan running.

When i shut off car fan still stays running. i have 2000 mazda 626

Hello, this was common in some vehicles, the fan would cool down the motor and than cut out when the vehicle was switched off. It was actually a quite good idea because when you switch the motor off, the water pump stops working and there is no air flow to the radiator and engine, which makes the engine temperature higher, the fan just cools it down, just make sure it does cut out after a couple of minutes.

Fan wont stop when engine is off

It may stay on for a few min. after the engine is turned off, as the sensors aren't cool enough to signal the relay to shut off the power. If it's staying on for a long time. then the relay is stuck and needs to be replaced.

Engine cooling fan has quit working ? at first it wouldn't shut off and now it wont stay on

relay issue probably....I replaced mine and its working again $60 at parts store. Its under the passenger head light you have to use a circular drill bit after removing the head light to get to it. easy fix or couple hundo at dealer.

When the car gets hot it will shut off and wont start until it cools down. I replaced the ignition module and it did not fix it. Any ideas?

Well, that makes sense because it is beyond the normal operating temperature of the engine. What you want to check is the engine coolant level and visually inspect for any leaking because the problem here could be that the engine doesn't stay cool enough. Do you hear the fan working when it gets too hot? If you don't, you might want to try to check the fuses or if there could be something more to the fan. Hope it helps.

Does the fan always run

Cooling fans only run when the temp,of the coolant get to about 215 to 218 degrees, and shut them selves off, when the engine cools down,if they do not cut off,the engine is not cooling down, now,if the ac is on,the cooling fans will stay on until the ac is shut off.

This is typical of imports to cool the motor down when the car is not moving,as no cool air is entering the engine bay

I have 1996 Dodge caravan and the fan's come on and stay on

By chance are you saying the fans stay running when you turn off the engine, the problem is with the radiater fan relay, the points are probably sticking together, it's in the pdc box under the hood, power comes from fuse 4, 40 amp, through the relay, then to the fans, relay is controlled by the engine controller (pcm). just flip the cover and find the right relay, pull it out when they wont shut off, if it quits, swap it anouther relay from the pdc box, and test it again, fans come on at 212*F and shut off at 199-202*F. if the fans stay running while engine is running, you might have a coolant sensor issue, or cooling system issue. If you need more assistance, let me know. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP
