Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

I have a 2000 1.8L turbo new beetle that sunds like a dune buggy. The last time it started this sound the dealer said the turbo was coming loose and charged $400 to fix. Car runs fine, any ideas i just don't believe that is the problem they said if continued to happen would probably have to have turbo replaced. but again car runs fine no lights come on. Any other ideas don't trust dealership only one in the area.

It could be a exhaust leak.or a hole the exhaust .u would think they would be a sensor on the turbo when it starts going yhat make the engine come on.

1972 VW Dune Buggy Stalling when coming to stop

Sounds like a fuel starvation problem. Start with the fuel filter, then have the carb rebuilt. Make sure the idle setting has not changed.

When I approach stop light and press in clutch to shift down, car stalls. Battery light comes on. Sometimes will restart and be OK until next stop, other times will not restart until it "rests"...

if it is cranking and starting back i would say its not a batt or alternating problem

most likely the reason the batt light is coming on is because its idleing rough as it quits running if it were me i would just drive it to a dealer and save the toe bill

Have a 2001 beetle 1.8 turbo. Lately at low speed

I have been having a similar problem (2001 1.8-TDI Beetle). The rattling sounds almost like wind buffeting the car/whistling, and increases in intensity as each gear revs higher (it gets quieter after a shift, and then builds again). at its loudest (before a shift), there's an additional rattle similar to tin cans in a paper bag being shaken (it's faint, but it's there). I just had the oil changed and the car looked over... not sure what could be the problem, but would like to have even a vague idea before I take it in. Any thoughts? Thanks!

01 Beetle turbo - ESP light

There must be faults if these lights are coming on. Check these first. (Scanner needed) Sounds alot like a boost hose is pierced or loose. Check all of them from the turbo to the intercooler and then to the motor. Also check closely the intercooler might be pierced too so small you won't see. Check all the clamps are tight around all these hoses. Many times both lights come on if your map sensor on the intercooler isn't getting good readings but rarely is the problem the sensor.
You might have a strange air sound at first then the car will go into limp mode and you loose all power.
If everything is good there check the mass air flow sensor.

Vw ignition coil wiring problem on a 1977 scirocco

I have completely rewired my Volkswagen dune buggy with a new wiring harness. I have followed the wiring diagram to the tee. It won't start! The wiring diagrams I have on the ignition system are not really clear either. I am sure there is just a wire left out somewhere. Where Can I get an in depth wiring diagram for a 1600cc '73 beetle engine? Thanks in advance...............Claud
